So I saw a forum post somewhere about someone getting banned for using...optic camoflage, and got banned off a taiwanese server for 'invisibility hack'  Here.  So this got me thinking after I posted...

DICE have made it impossible to tell who is hacking and who isn't, other than possibly aimbots.  The reasons being, they gave us the tools to do it.

Dystek Pulse meter...hmm...OMG W4LLH4X!!!
Gruber 9 stabilizer...hmm...OMG 4IMB07!!!
Support guns...yet more 4imbo7z (more accurate as you lean into the gun.  this is actually the case of most modern support guns, as the gunner leans down on the weapon and stabilizes his aim, the M249 in real-life is actually very accurate)
Otus Drone...more w4llh4x
NETBAT: omg I can see how much HP the enemy has and their kit class.

Not that I truly mind.  when shit happens, I just go like 'okay, I got owned.  I'll get him next time.'  But that leaves me to wonder truly how many of my deaths are bullshit, and which ones were caused by said equpiment.  I'd peg it at .1%, give or take--yes, I am making this up, humor me.

On the other hand...being banned for 'hacking' has me laughing a lot (its happened a few times) when its all skill, no sploitz required, because of the sense of no reliability in claiming someone hacks.

wait, so you're saying BF2 has "fail-proof" hack detection?

Bahaha, the stabilizer is a joke.  You don't even need it, the scope sway is so predictable.  If it were like CoD 2 then you would need it.

I like things like netbat. It levels the playing field vs cheaters a little more since i'm going to blast them the moment they round the corner as well.

And hack detection has always been shit anyway. Thousands of nubs cry wolf and when someone competent finds a real cheater everyone says, yeah whatever nub lets see your unobtainable proof.

Sheesh, you guys can't take a joke.  I shoulda added the [/sarcasm] at the end.  I was just making humor over how DICE added hack-like abilities to every players arsenal, like the dystek and what-not, seeing people through walls'n'stuff.  Or at least, a good idea of where they are.

Personally, I love BF2142...I'm just trying to amuse the rest of us who on occasion have gotten pissed off by being killed out of the blue.  And regarding the stabilizer, I almost never use it--not unless I'm shooting past 250 meters, where bullet drop is noticeable (Sidi Power plant on conquest, for instance--longest-distance shot, well over 300 meters.)

I use the no-sway-for-me-bug so I dont need a stabilazer
And unfortunately many unlocks are simplifying the game so it does become similar to cheating.

if you want to avoid hackers play on servers with only 10 people or so.  I played for 4 hours last night on a 10 person server and it was the most fun I've ever had playing a bf game.  The hackers play on the servers with lots of people.

I get what you mean.

On an interesting note, I suppose the "special abilities" that most modern FPS cheats and 'hacks' give you tend to provide some interesting things that the future might hold. Seeing through walls, automatic aim, no-recoil, biometrics, etc. All of that is stuff that people 'need' or 'want' now in gaming can probably get it for real in the future.

It's neat, and can't say it's bad... except for the auto-aim thing, I suppose.

Hm yeah...at one point this modern battlefield will involve so many gadgets everyone can just take a break and let their personal robot unlock do the fighting...

But seriously...i kind of miss 1942 - i remember reading about the upcoming BF 2 way back before its release and how people could actually spot things properly for all to see. and then the UAV...seemed like it would completely ruin the game if you knew exactly where the enemy was...but I guess it worked out a lot better than i expected.

though I miss the days you had to rely on "Armor spotted'' - "Need Air Support" voices to give you a rough idea of where the enemy tank was.
