Quick question that I didn't see posted...

Does anyone know if you will be able to use the unlocks you receive from promotions for the new equipment in NS, or are those dedicated to the new badges and ribbons?

reason being, I'm saving my last few promotion unlocks for the NS equipment.

Pretty sure that an unlock is an unlock. As long as you own NS, you will be able to unlock the NS items. Remember though, they are at the top of the unlock trees, so you will need to have the entire branch unlocked before you can get the NS unlock.

I was on the 1.2 beta and when I earned my promotion, I could unlock an NS item that I have in a completed tree.

They are associated with the awards with northern strike booster pack. You can get the unlocks through field upgrades but can keep them permanately if you own the booster.

That was my question though...If I own the booster will I be able to use any unlocks I have SAVED from promotions prior to purchasing the booster pack

I should be just like with BF2 and when SF came out. if you where a seargeant major than you got them all or if lower you only got a few.

See that SEARCH button right above? (it's even bigger than the rest of them ) This question has been answered 1 billion times. Each time you get a NS award, it can be "spent" on a NS unlock. So, you wasted your time on the saved unlocks.

Now if I was a mod I could be really cool and be like "/locked".

First, I mentioned doing said search and I'm aware of how it works.

That doesn't answer my question because that particular topic never acknowledges my specific question.

Yes I know that NS awards can be spent on NS unlocks, BUT does that mean ONLY NS award points can be used.

Just because you could it in the BETA doesn't meen you will be able to do it on the BF2142 game. They just made so you could unlock them faster. There is a reason why you should buy the game for those unlocks.

I intend on spending some unlock points getting the rest of the Voss Assault tree, and to actually get the top of a few trees. For now, they're just field upgrades. The new NS unlocks don't look too good to me.... but one or two of them seem useful. : /

I was in the NS beta and can confirm the unlocks work both ways.

Providing you own NS unlocks earend from either of the 2 methods (promotions or NS awards) can be spent on either type of unlocks (regular or NS unlocks).

NS unlocks are level 5 on the unlock tree so you will need the 4 items below it to unlock them.

Nope, doesn't work like that. In the NS beta, i earned some special NS awards, and for each one, you get a unlock credit, which can be used on either Vanilla or NS unlocks. Regualar promotion unlocks can also be used to obtain NS unlocks

No you need the NS awards to unlock the NS stuff, BUT, you can only unlock those if you have completed a Vanilla 2142 unlock tree.

Not only can you use those unlock credits on NS weapons, if you pre-order NS you can unlock them now.
(as long as you're at the top of whichever class tree it is you're looking to unlock of course)

An unlock credit is an unlock credit, be it one gotten by traditionally ranking up or getting an NS award.
I have the RDX shotgun, Support Sonar (which imo is the best of the unlocks) and Motion Mines unlocked already because I pre-ordered.
Probably unlocking the boots today.
