So i entered solve(long expression=0,t) and received

t=3.1574113E-3*(@n4 + 30.943104E0)

3.157E-3 is a valid t (the long expression is a derivative, Im finding max/mins) but I know there are a lot more out there, and I think thats what (@n4 + 30.943104E0) is trying to tell me, but what the frick does it mean. Anyone know?

i always thought that stuff was like:

you put a trig function into a solver and you'd get liek

x = pi/4 + @n2asdfl;kj;zxlkvj;laskdjf;lsafj

Differentiation...I did that last year, and don't remember the whole thing.

But why don't you graph the gradient (the differentiation) and use the Maximum and Minimum settings?

(under F5, Math, numbers 3 and 4.)

Yeah, that would work also! I didn't think of doing that. I have a graph of the function using regular software, but out of curiousity I would still like to understand TIs notation there..Thanks though!
