Indeed After a week or two they'll be uber-shiny and my gums will be back to normal... at least, that's what the doctors said.

I remember when i got mine off.  Greatest feeling i had had in a while.

I would prefer to have braces again than to have had the dental work I went through last year. Two root canals, a really deep filling, and an extraction. SERIOUSLY painful, and now I have a completely different sets of gaps, chips, and ridges to deal with.
Although at least I'm not getting excruciating pain every few months, and got rid of the infected tooth stopping me from eating, sleeping, gaming, or doing anything useful.

Can't wait to get mine off. Coming up on 3 years in July, but I also have the pleasure of looking forward to surgery on my jaw in a couple months and I believe the braces will be on for a few months after that...

I got mine off in June, I'm gonna say that for the next few days you will compulsively be running your tongue across your teeth.

I have a 9mm overbite and to correct it, they to put in plainly, they have to break my jaws and readjust them.

oh lord that sounds splendid.....i got my braces off a year and a half ago, it felt awkward to get them off because now the inside of my lips werent scraping against the braces, i also had to wear those ridiculous rubber bands than hold your teeth toghther

lucky, after i got mine off i had a wire permanently glued to the back of my top and bottom teeth, 6 teeth each row. i dont notice it though, but this thread made me remember where it is

If you have to wear retainers, make sure you WEAR THEM. Don't do the mistake I did and not wear them when I was supposed to. Trust me, it'll come back to haunt you.

But seriously: like DaBigDragon said, if you have to wear retainers: WEAR THEM!.  It will come back to haunt you!  (Some of my teeth aren't aligned anymore )

Make sure you wear your retainers dude!

I got mine off about 2 years ago (yes, the compulsive running the tongue across your teeth will go away) and doesn't it feel great?

Again...wear your retainers, no matter how stupid they look.  I only put them on at night, and they've kept my teeth nice and straight.
