AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core Processor Socket AM2 Windsor 2.6GHZ 2000FSB 2X1MB 90NM

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Dual Core Processor LGA775 Conroe 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 4MB Cache
http://www.directcanada.com/products/?s … ture=INTEL

Keep in mind the prices are:
AMD $274.48 CAD
Intel $373.36 CAD

for those who have the E6600 is the extra $100 worth it?

The E6600 will walk all over the AMD, it really depends on your budget though. Course you can get a 6400 that would still perform better than the 5200+ for $222...

Intel. No matter what you should chose Intel right now.

plus it's been done a bunch of times before that but I don't feel like searching, not that I personally care but I'm sure someone will let you know about it...

Just consider that an OC'd 6300 will perform significantly better than a 5200+ when you're making your decision.  Also I believe Intel are sticking with socket 775 for a while, wheareas AMD keep changing stuff around (though you will be able to stick AM3 CPUs in AM2 MBs, with lower performing memory (DDR2)).
