Well, I did this morning. Had quite a few beers at the company profit sharing party Thursday night and also had a couple last night. I'd been fighting a bit of a sore throat, but not a big deal because that usually happens to me in the winter. This guy apparently had the same thing I did.
Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night with the sore throat from hell. It was so bad, I could hardly swallow, but it was only waaay at the back. Weird. So I popped a cough drop, helped a little, fell back to sleep. Woke up in the morning and it was WORSE. Now how the heck could it be worse than last night?!?! I bent down to pick up my daughter and since that little uvula thing was swollen, it hit the back of my tongue. You guessed it . . . I ran to the bathroom and hurled because of the gag reflex kicking in. As long as I stayed bent over, it stayed in contact with my tongue. So I had to tip my head back to swallow properly. Soon came to the conclusion that this sucked so I went in to Urgent Care. The Doc prescribed me some anti-biotic for the sinus infection and some Prednisone. A lot better now, still not all the way back to normal, but I've been drinking a lot of water, eating popsicles, and drinking juice. Seems to help.

Whats a uvula, you ask? its the damn thing that hangs down in the back of your throat by your tonsils. i bet you were thinking it was some other part of the body, but nope, its not. not really sure what it does besides make you puke when you stick your finger down your throat. but that doesnt matter. what matters is what happened to me this morning…
I woke up with a really dry mouth and throat this morning. i had been out drinking last night with one of my good friends from MN, scott, and everything was normal when i went to sleep. so when i noticed my throat was really dry, i just figured it was because i had a couple too many beers and gin & tonics. so i got up to drink some water, and it felt like i had some drainage in the back of my throat. thats pretty normal, so i went into the bathroom to spit it out. no luck. what the hell i thought…why wasnt this crap coming out? so i went and looked in the mirror, and i nearly crapped my pants. that damn uvula thing was the size of my thumb, but in the shape of a blob. the thing was huge!
Not really sure what to do, i looked up a few things on the internet and called the master of the swollen uvula, greg (hes gotten this same damn thing 100 times), and asked him what he had to do. it basically involved nothing, which was pretty cool. i didnt feel like going to the hospital and paying doctors bills up the ass (which greg did the first time). greg said all he did now was drink a S-load of water and gatorade and the thing got better over the next day or so. so i drank a ton of water and went back to sleep for about 4 hours, and it appears to be about 1/2 the size of what it was this morning. cool.
Well i just wanted to share my little story with you all. not really a good story since im still tired. and sorry theres no pics. i would have taken a couple, but then i figured it would be a little to gross for even me to look at later on.
