Hey guys,

I am having an irksome problem with the web.  I am using Firefox 2.0 (I think) and it is not working properly.  It will load all of the pages in the cache/history, but will not move on to any new ones.  It says that "The connection Timed Out" and that the "Server is taking too long to respond."  I know that this can be a problem relating to just one website, but it isn't just one website...it's all of the ones I haven't visited yet.

Here is a picture of what it looks like whenever I try to connect with a website.

My entire family is screaming at me to fix it and I've tried everything; checked the network connections (they're fine), added Firefox to the "Allow" for my firewall and tried restarting several times.  This started happening yesterday when I installed software for my camera (to transfer images) but this seemed to interfere with my internet, so I uninstalled it.  It helped a minimal amount.

I really need your help on this one guys, please pull through for me.

Unchecked.  Also, see above about Xbox live.  Which means my wireless internet routher is not sending out a signal.

You should also give a call to your ISP to check if the service is down or in maintenance.

Yup, everything looks as it normally would.

Honestly, I could not see Comcast having downed service or maintenance.  If they were, it would be the first time.

I serioulsy think it's something little that I am missing and when I find it out, I'll feel dumb.

The connections are fine, it has received quite a bit more packets than it has sent.  651, 432 received 354,454 sent.

Edit: As you can see, Facebook isn't loading...

What´s that 1394 connection? You have there a LAN cable unplugged (The one that says intel). Have you checked that all the wiring is properly connected?

Hi,

You might want to just double-check or replace your ethernet cable.
Also, It could the the NIC Itself. I worked for an ISP and I saw this working with Intermittent Ethernet cards.
You may also want to reload the NIC Drivers or simply just update them

Charter?  Elaborate, please.

The 1394 is the little USB adapter which provides the computer with internet.  The ethernet cable is not plugged directly into the PC, it goes through the USB in the front.  THe other connection has never been connected.

I honestly do not recognize the term 'NIC' and would be very glab if you wouldn't mind telling me exactly what you mean by updating these drivers.

I was going to say that Firefox 2.0.0.2 has been giving me a few problems, but this obviously isn't the case in your instance. I'd say contact the ISP - I've had the same sort of thing happen to me, and it was just maintenance I'd forgotten about!
Good luck & all the best,

Take your ethernet cable and plug into another slot in your router, this happened to me once where I couldn't browse but I could get instant messenger.

I tried that, but it did not work.

Did you restart your computer after you did that?

Ok, you should unplug your router for a couple of minutes in order to get a new IP address. I say, let it be unplugged for maybe 15 minutes. Then plug it back and try again.

P.S. What was the last thing you were doing before it started to fail on you?

Hi,

NIC stands for Network Interface Device, or your Network Card.

I installed the camera software and it was then that I noticed it to become slower.  I left it installed until later that night when I uninstalled it.

I will unplug my routher now.  See you in 15.
