Hi,

NIC stands for Network Interface Device, or your Network Card.
It should be NID not NIC then. And yes, your LAN card is a NIC, not a NID. Network Interface Card

Try downloading internet explorer7.0: you will not be able to download it, so use windows integrated one, if auto updates are turned on, then it will already be installed in start - all programs - internet explorer.

Have you checked out your computer for any adware and/or spyware?

I can't see a solution but I'm curious about the USB device you mention.  The camera software didn't have a driver within it did it?  If so maybe it conflicted with usb adaptor?

...Although that wouldn't explain the Xbox live problem

Yup, I ran Norton Antivirus and had 0 infected files.  Out of over 200K.

I have no idea what is causing this.

So let me get this straight:

The comupter you're having trouble with is connected using a wireless USB device to your wireless router.
You're XBox is also connected via your wireless router.
And I assume you're posting here on another computer that's connected via an ethernet cable directly to the router???

If all that's correct (and I'm not sure it is) I'd suggest there's some sort of signal interference or you wireless part of your router is screwed.

Edit: if you have a separate modem and router, try plugging the problem computer straight into the odem (ie without using the router) that way you can figure out if it's the router or not.

No.  That is incorrect.

My wireless router connects to my modem via a gray ethernet cable.  The computer connects to my wireless router vai a blue ethernet cable.  This blue ethernet cable is plugged into the USB device which connects to the USB port in the front of my PC.  Thus, cable internet for my PC and wireless for the rest of the house and XBOX.

Edit:  I am on the computer that is having the problems.  It will only load the cached pages, and not any new ones.

Oh, OK sorry.

So what happens when you plug the problem computer directly into the modem?

If it's only wireless systems that are having problems it's got to be a problem with router.

OK, well if that worked the next thing I'd so is try to connect that computer through the router, but connect it via a network cable.  If it doesn't work then there must be a problem with the router configuration. If it works, but you still can't get it to work wirelessly, then there's a problem with the wireless system on the router.

Everytime we have connection errors, we unplug or modem and router (forget which order), then plug them back in after a short amount of time. Turn the computer off first.

Why is your ethernet plugged into a USB device? Just stick it into the ethernet port.

Try updating the firmware on your router.

That's what I was wondering too, but since that was the only computer that was working I figured "If it aint broke..."

Did you ever manually reset the settings on your router? There is usually a button on the back to do that. Reset your modem again after that. Call Comcast and have them reset the signal from their end. My provider can do this automatically when I call them, hopefully the same is true for you. Give it a few minutes after you do that to resolve the network address.
