Here's the deal:

I have a socket 939 X2 4200+ that's been sitting in my closet doing nothing for at least a month.  I've been searching everywhere for ASRock boards (for their upgradeability) but I've been told they're discontinued.  I'm going to install my new CPU, new motherboard, and reinstall Windows when I get a 8600 Ultra, during the 2nd week of March.  Or so I'm told.

So I need a motherboard that:

-Has 4 184 pin RAM slots
-Has PCI-E x16 slots, preferably with SLI too
-Has a socket 939 CPU slot

You get bonus points if you find a non-ASRock mobo that can upgrade to AM2 later on.  If you've had a good motherboard in the past, let me know!

Go, go, go!

Thanks in advance.  Karma will be dished out accordingly.

My other system an A8N-SLI, 0 trouble with it. It has what you ask for plus passive cooling and a ton of SATA connections. I think the board Zero posted is better.

That mobo is expensive!  Thanks for the help though, maybe I can get something cheaper...

cheaper

hmm

tbh anything cheaper than that is probs not going to work to the full potential

only other 939 boards id reccomend are what DFI offers

but DFI are also in that price range

really if you want the best bang for the buck mobo id cut back ona  few things i.e the SLi

this would be the only other board id reccomend if you want it

I've decided to go with the open box A8N-SLI Deluxe.

For high speed SLI in future the A8N-SLI Deluxe might not be your best option. The A8N32 boards are the only ones with full speed 16x PCIe SLI slots, hence the name (because it's 32x).

A slightly better value version of the board you've decided on was made, but I don't know how many are still around - the A8N-SLI SE, which was much cheaper.

Under specifications though, it says that two PCI x16 slots are supported.  Are they telling the truth?  I'm only looking to run one 8600 Ultra, and maybe later add another one in SLI.

2 16x PCIe slots are there and are properly supported. 2 8600 Ultras will work in SLI (as would 2 8800s), but not quite as quick as they could, because the overall bandwidth is lacking a bit. That was the whole point of the A8N32 boards (which were kind of useless when they came out, because nothing used all that bandwidth).
