Hey guys I come seeking some help from you all.  I just got a set of the Medusa 5.1 surround home headphone sets and I think I have the must of it tweaked to what I want but I can't seem to get the bass going it just sounds really flat and thin, kinda disappointing.  I hear a lot of people have this problem and if some of you have solved it then I would send karma your way.

I have the x fi extreme music card.

Thanks for the help.

well, the Medusa 5.1 home edition has a build in 5.1 soundcard, and thats exactlly the problem. I have an X-FI too and the Medusa Lan Party edition. The bass sounds very very flat althought it´s raised to 10. I´ve contacted Speedlink about it and the customer support told me, that I have to disable the X-FI for better sound, for sure! Well, I´ve disabled it then, and the headset´s sound became way better

Nowadays I´ve tweaked the surround, front, rear options etc. in windows so that the bass is pretty intense. I´carn screenshot them and post them here, if you want.

All Medusa editions with build in 5.1 soundcard are useless if you have a Audigy2 or X-FI plugged. Rather go with the standard USB Medusa here.

And the post above, well, BS imo! I´ve tried plantronics, sennheiser, logitech etc. too, even bought them, and they arent a par for the Medusa headsets with a standard AC97 soundcard.

So, just because of Sennheiser beeing a top manufacturer with a longer tradition all those headphone are the best, sure! [/sarcasm]

I dont know about you, but I use a Medusa and two Sennheiser (PC166 and PC150) headsets. The Medusa is cheaper, has 5.1 sound and sounds better.

And dont try to tell me something about Sennheiser headphones, we use them for music productions in professional studios, every day I might add.

If the Medusa sounds better for your ears than a Sennheiser headphone, you should start to ask yourself if there's something wrong with your ears...

At the time you realize that Speedlink buys it´s speakers by sennheiser, come back and try to be an smartass!

But ok, my ears maybe screwed. Strange that most reviews show the Medsua series, also if it comes to bang for the money, on top and the expensive, and good though, Sennheiser/Plantronics below.

But what do I know, I only work and play with those products nearly every day. Kthx.

And the funniest thing is, have you guys read the first post? This guy asks for help with his Medusa and his X-FI, then you come on and tell him to buy a Sennheiser, wow, great help! It´s compareable to "I want a new midrange GPU" and I say "buy dual 8800GTX".

If you read, before you post something, well you might be able to see that I dont dislike headsets of Sennheiser, but imo the Speedlink things are more bang for the buck!

this guy has X-fi and not some onboard audio. so if he would have some expensive mobo and processor and he would say i want a mid-range graphics card, then i would definitely recommend him to buy dual 8800gtx!
he said himself that the headphones are dissapointing. why have an expensive x-fi and cheap headphones? it makes no sense.

Well I have X-FI Fatality in my 2nd rig, and mostly use the Medusa 5.1. I had to tweak either the system settings and disable the buildin soundchip, but after this was done, it sounded better then the Sennheiser PC166.

Why does the medusa series always get reviewed better then the exp. sennheisers? Because the reviewers have issues with hearing huh?!

Just to make it clear, I own sennheiser headsets too (see above) and they are great, but the cheaper Medusa sounds better.

And you say 8800GTX is midrange?! Sure a GPU for 550€ is pretty midrange! What is high end iyo? Do you have something of ATI or Nivida that nobody knows of?

Nevermind, we stop this right here, I dont think we´ll come to a result whilst arguing about headsets or hardware.

what i meant to say is, if he wanted to buy a mid range G-card for his very expensive mobo and lets say a qx6700 proc i would recommend him a better card and not just a mid range one. its like having a brand new Mercedes with some shitty speakers built in (medusa). why not go for a M-audio (in this case sennheiser) if he can afford Mercedes?

Edit: ur right lets stop arguing, we are not helping this guy but everyone has its own opinion
