Yesterday whilst flying in a chopper with a friend of mine, the server got autobalanced and he got switched to the other side. But wait heres the catch, he stays in my chopper as the gunner??? yes you heard right. It didnt make any sense to me, and I was laughing my ass off when he told me ok you shoot my team ill shoot yours. After we got shotdown by a member on his team, that member got a teamkill...definately the wierdest thing Ive ever seen.

I took this picture to prove it, as you can see he shows as red in my chopper.

You never get switched while alive, only when you die (at least that's what I thought), so this is rather strange. I have seen the red-in-heli-bug but that was 2 patches ago when everything was red.

Looks to me like an admin did a player switch through Rcon/bf2cc more than autobalance... But it's still plausible.
There are different types of modes to switch a player.

It's not a commonly known bug unless you know how console/team balance works.
I have been able to play on the MEC side with a USMC skin because the team balance doesn't initiate a kill through rcon/bf2cc. It's one of the rare occurrence bugs that never got fixed in BF2. It can be reproduced on command too...

I have seen players been switched where they stand. everything they have stays the same just they are on the other team. Seems like an admin switched him liek this. Shame you got shot down.

Man that would have been so confusing for your team. They'd see a blue chopper coming towards them and then they'd all get ripped up. Also they wouldnt have hidden because its a 'friendly' chopper.

Jep happend to me once too. I was US karkand and before I spawned I switched to MEC. I spawned at the US uncap (where the tank ans apc stand) as MEC.

BF2 glitch, Ive seen it once before, too. Not likely an admin switch-bf2ccc only allows you to switch players on their next death.

I have been on ghost town as SAS in an apc driving along and BANG apeared on Spetz uncap, no idea how or why, also teamswitched to spetz once when i died, but spawned back in SAS uncap, this was strange and only noticed when i couldnt get a lift in a tank with no gunner!!!

Well, it happens to me before but not on a heli, but on foot!! When the game is about to start and i switch team to stick with my mates. maybe i did it when the game is abt to start in 1 sec and Viola! I end up as an enemy in the enemy base!! Well, manage to kill 5 to 6 people in a row before i stole their heli lol......was accused of hacking but its really not my fault!!!!!!!!!!

Something like this happened to me once. I was playing on wake as Chinese the teams were uneven 23-16 i got switched and so did 2 other guys we spawned on carrier with their skin but our weapons for a few minutes we did'nt what was going on i mean it said we we're usmc but we heard the chinese teams conversations and we looked at each other and knew what we we're going to do. I had an AK as a medic, 1 guy was spec ops, and the other 1 was AT. The spec op's planted c4 on the plane, blackhawk, and spawn area for attack heli whenever enough guys spawned he blew them up got 20 kills at once, I was killing them with my AK at point blank, And the AT guy was getting 3-5 kills with just the eryx, When we ran outta ammo we started using knives and it the coolest part was when we killed them we got kills but when they killed us they got teamkills. Man i wish i could do that again.(I was 5th with 35 kills)

Oh, how I would like to have this happen to me.

I only get switched normally after I have capped a handful of flags and think "yeah, now we've nailed them",
only to wonder why there's only one spawn point left all of a sudden.
