Hi, whenever I play BF2 or any other game, the PC locks up and gives a very high pitched scream, I can't do anything else but reboot, does anyone know the problem for this?

Specs:

ATi Radeon X1600 Pro (With blower attached)
Pentium 4 (HyperThreading) 3.00 GHz
1.2 GB RAM
Audigy 2 Sound Blaster
550W Power Supply
Foxconn (...) i865 Intel Chipset
Enough cooling, nothing overheats when it freezes

All latest drivers installed.

Any help would be appreciated .

It could be the PSU.

I'm putting money on that.  It's dying.

I don't think that, it is new (2 months ago).

USB problem
Screen freezes and high pitched warbly sound?
I had plugged joystick into the keyboard and was getting this all the time.

Now I have keyboard upper slots, mouse lower spots and joystick in the front. Very rare now.

It doesn't matter.  Things can be DOA, out of the box.  Usually high pitch squeeling is caused by electronic components that handles large amounts of power.  That's why I'm guessing the PSU.

I have a Radeon X1600XT, I had to return it because of the same thing. I was playing PR one night and all the sudden I heard the loud scream sound, comp locked up and shut down on it's own. After that I couldn't reboot, I returned the card and it's all fine now.
