I'm currently using a notebook to play bf2, and I don't want to wear out the keyboard (I've logged 200 hrs on it already) so I ordered a zboard with the bf2 key set, and the usb connect.after reading the forums I am wondering if I made the right decision. the keys on my notebook are close together and I have become used to them. do you guys think the zboard improved your game play or is it just hype. It looks like it can be a bad ass weapon. any feedback would be appreciated. It's too late to back out now so comments on the zboard only would be great, both likes and dislikes. Thank you!!!

In my hoest opinion i hate the things. They do no justice for me whatsoever. I mean the keys are spread apart. it took me about 15 minutes so even get used to typing a god damn sentance!

Also the bf2 key set aint any better, i prefer my WASD keys anyday.

My 2 cents.

The ZBoard will not improve gameplay. An experienced FPS gamer will be looking at the screen, not the controls. The ZBoard is useful for slower-paced games that allow you to look for keys, but its usefulness will be negated by any customized control settings.

The ZBoard, though designed for gamers, is far more useful for graphics and word processing apps, where there are way too many shortcuts to remember in a short period of time. That's what my ZBoard is used for. My gaming boards have always been standard IBM 101's, as they last a long time and are cheap to replace once worn out.

Would've been better off with a G15 imo.  Zboards look retarded and have stupid key placements.

Logitech. Their newest standard line with internet surfing is awesome. Shortcuts + good key spread and no loud keys.

I have the WolfClaw keyboard and am very happy with it.  It's similar to the zboard in that to the left is a section with WASD and bunch of other commonly used keys and to the right is a more-or-less fullsize keyboard.

When i first saw the zboard i was thinking it was pretty cheap looking and the keys had a poor feel to them.  By contrast, the WolfClaw has keys that feel like regular keyboard keys.  True, i use it exclusively for gaming, but i could certainly use the regular keyboard for work if i had to.

There was an adjustment period of about 1 hour or so until i got comfortable with where the keys are on the left pad.  i never really had to look at the keys after that - fingers just know where they are now.  In the long run i believe at least for me that it improved my gameplay because the regular location of WASD keys is a bit cramped for my hand.  with the WolfClaw layout, i am better able to hit the keys and hit them correctly.  but that's just me.

The one i have is the fullsize USB version.  i see that they also have a mini USB version that is just the left side WASD keys so you can keep your original keyboard and use this little one for gaming as well.  Check out www.xoxide.com under keyboards.

overall, i agree that a keyboard really shouldn't make a difference in gameplay but for me it just makes it more comfortable.  i'll never go back to standard keyboard for FPS.

I like my G15; I have a different key layout for BF2 than the default anyways.
