flash drive problem

Hi guys, I am experiencing problems with my 256mb USB flash drive. Up until today it has been working great and I've never had any problems, which has been about a year. However, now whenever i plug it into any pc and open the drive letter it says "device not formatted, would you like to format it now?" I have vital information on it and some that i have no backup of. Any ideas for how to retrieve the info without formatting the drive?

hmm. i had the same problem and i had to reformat..... do u have important data on there

yeah a bit. plus i tried to reformat and it said "format cannot complete"

unless its something important on the drive, dump it and get a new one. they are pretty cheap now and 256MB is tiny for flash mem nowadays

i guess you could try if a hd recovery program like testdisk will be able to recover your stuff. thats what i used to get stuff from my drive E when it mysteriously deformated itself
