BF2S Forums 400 pound 7 year old

if she is not suffering from any eating disorders, i would say "shot her parents". that comes close to torture in my eyes. i am not a doc, but even if she can lose those punds again, she will look like a tent.

IF she has a glandular problem, then you can't blame anyone, but if the parents are just irresponsible, they need to have her taken away from them. They need to do what's in the best interest of the kid, and this is clearly not. If she doesn't lose a significant amount of weight, there's a good chance she'll have some pretty serious health issues.

First of all, the social services SHOULD NEVER ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN TO A CHILD.
Second, it is partly the healthcares fault. Why? Because they did not move their asses and help her while they still could. It makes no difference if she has an eating disorder, they can still vastly help her.
The parents are mostly to blame, they must be the dumbest couple I can imagine, but then you see 250/350 pounders around quite often, in Britain and in America.

She will die at around 10, I think the healthcare have left it too late.

As to all who said it isnt the American health care systems fault.. your wrong, this is exactly why the Uk has social services that stops parents abusing children like this.

Here in the US we do have Child Protective Services.  If the parents are found at fault, CPS is responsible for stepping and intervening on behalf of the child, if that means the child is removed from the home, then that is allowable by law.  But it requires permission from a judge.

The problem with CPS here in the US, is they are usually under-staffed, and unless abuse/neglect is reported, they have no way of knowing something wrong is being done.  So it comes back to friends/family/neighbors/teachers.  Someone should have said something a long time ago.

CPS is separate from our health care services.  But in either scenario, unless someone, anyone reports it, no one knows anything needs to be done.  So if the parents never took her to see a doctor, how can a doctor be to blame for her weight?

I say whether it be from over-eating, or a glandular problem the parents should have done something for their kid a long time ago.

That is scary. Seriously. How can the parents be that dumb? Even if it was glandular, or something like that, you'd think that they would take her to a doctor.
