I have a question why is'nt the AK-74 in the game? I'm not talking about the ak-74u thats a carbine. I'm talking about the full assault rifle. Maybe it was too similar to the AK-47? Maybe it had some kind of flaw? Or maybe dice decided that the 101 was good enough and they dont need another rifle complicating things?
It is in the game. The PLA (China) have it as Assault and Medic.
AK - 74, not 47... thought in a game like this i dont really see what the difference would be...
by default ?
Does it matter? Its not that realistic anyways so who cares
Change your localisation to read "AK-74" if you really want to...
If we made a list of the guns that are NOT in the game, it would go on forever....
Probably because the AK-47 is the much more popular one than the AK-74.
I rather find it strange that they didn't put in the Steyr AUG, not even in EF.
There's too many Heckler & Koch guns, IMO.

Man i wish they put the G36 base model and it's nade launcher in the game! Now that would be ownage!globefish23 wrote:

Basicly a good example was shown here....You ask why the AK 74 isn't in the game, they say the AK 47 IS in the game...
It is so similar in name and character that most wouldn't notice. So they chose the more popular one, and the AK-101. If they would have chosen the 74 most people wouldn't even notice anyways, it would just get mistaken as another AK 47....So rather then have two guns that people would confuse as the same one they used the 47, and the 101 so people would at least notice there was more of a variety.
Because the AK-101 is better.
But yeah, technically the AKS-74 is what russian military use, so its just weird.,

Steyr would have been the ownage... but i suppose it is a bit too similar to the L85 and the FAMAS to the casual observer to have put in
Thx for the reply's guys i got my answer.

Whats the point? Doesnt the AK-74 use the same type of ammo as the m16 and m4 anyway? Besides, they cant put EVERY gun in it, they didn't put the AuG nor the Deagle.

Ak-47 is not so good in Bf2
AK47 = 7.62mm bullets
M16/M4 = 5.56mm bullets
AK74/RPK74 - 5.45mm bullets
AK101 - 5.56
QBZ97 - 5.8mm bullets
but thats in real life, not in game. The RPK/AK74 have the smallest bullets of any guns in BF2, but they are both superior to their american counterparts

AK-101 = export version of AK-74
There you have it.
There you have it.
because its so similar to ak-47 that is doesn't really matter now does it? I would be the same qualities as the 47
Yeah, beat me to it... basically the same gun.Superior Mind wrote:

Reminds me, one of the stranger balance decisions in BF2's dark programming past: AK-101 and M16A2 are both the same calibre, but the AK in-game is so much more powerful (7 more FFS) and it has full auto? What's that about? Sure, make the AK-47 a beast, but not the 101.
