I dont have a dual core cpu...its just a athlon 64

Define "not start up", as in you click the icon and NOTHING HAPPENS AS ALL, or you get a black screen and it closes?

If you get a black screen, when you uninstall (to reinstall) did you select to save profiles? If you picked to save the profiles try going to "My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache" (and mods\xpack\cache if you have sf) and delete all the folders inside the cache folder.
