They just get the news. But now it's just speculations. When has VR-zone been wrong about 12 inch long R600?

From what I've heard, Nvidia is gonna go straight to the 9000 series. Kinda like what they did with the 6 series.

But they are still gonna go with the GX2 thing.

hmm, I'm sure they haven't said anything about release dates then?  Hopefully not too far after the "r600" deal

Heck I just want a GFX card for about 180€ that outperforms today's 7900GTX - is that too much?
*sighs*

The information comes from a variety of sources, not just VR Zone. You can see the Ultra version of the 8800 series mentioned in nVidia's latest driver - the beta version of forceware 101.41 - if you don't believe it, download the drivers yourself and use Rivatuner to find the info.

In terms of the question about the 8600 running bf on max graphics, its too early to say.

But, if you want a decent card now that will run @ 1600x1200 aa4x max settings, I'd recommend the 8800GTS 320 Mb - its greeat value for price at the minute

Coding since 8600 is dx10 and not ment for dx9 game support even though it can support it. It may or maynot run bf2 better.

At what resolution? I somehow doubt a 7600GT plays bf2 @ 1600X1200 with 4xAA, 8XAF, all high settings with anything above 30fps.

I'm so tired of waiting for these new 8 series cards to come out...  I think I'll buy a 7600GT for my new build within the next week or so.  Then upgrade to the 8600GT whenever it comes out...  Mid March?  April 17th?  Does anyone know?  Will these even exist?  After upgrading I'll sell the 7600GT on craigslist for $50 - $80...  I think this plan is a lot better than buying a 7900GS or 7950GT with this new build in a week or so, and losing $50 + when the new 8 series come out and these 7 series cards value poop shoots :p

Which is yet another thing which makes me very dubious of the article. Every other major site has included the 8600 Ultra in the line up of cards. I think this could easily be a mistake/fake (or maybe what they call the 8600GTS is the new name for the 8600 Ultra - which is definately a real card, there are pics of it and everything).

http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=4834

Although the fact it is taken from the drivers is reassuring. Although it could easily be inaccurate. Nvidia have been working on these drivers for ages. It is quite possible that prototypes that will never be released have been included.

The 8800 Ultra is being released the same day as the 8600 series.  That includes the 8600GS, GT, GTS, and lesser models.  I think there's a 8500gt coming out too.

April 17 boys, get ready.

Anyone know have they cancelled 8900 series? Or are they making new 9000 series? Just want to know because im going to buy 8800GTX next week, but if they will release 8900/9000 series in 1-2 months then there is no need to buy 8800.

Heard they're gonna go straight for the 9 series.
