Its just down to what you prefer really.

I like to be able to swap between the two.Somedays i don't want to worry about vehicles on the map so i can run around freely and only worry about someone else shooting me.

On otherday's i will just want to play normal bf2.

Its made the game last longer for alot people that were bored of the normal game type.

Yeah, but if you had any skill the "unlock n00bs" wouldn't be a problem.

I agree that people should stop whining about IO servers. I like to play on them too every now and then.

But instead you post that vehicles servers suck, so you are just the same as the IO whiners. You are a vehicle whiner. Therefor I don't want to waste any more words by replying to you.

To give my opinion:
There can be teamwork on every server. Invite a friend, make a squad and have teamwork. If you play alone, there are a few tricks to get people in your squad who like teamwork.

But I also like flying the jet sometimes, so then I'm not really into teamwork (except maybe with the second fighter, or on TS to help the ground-troops by bombing incoming apc's and tanks, ...)

What if 2 skilled players, 1 with m16 and 1 with g36e would face eachother then?
g36e ''n00b'' win.

No, not necessarily.  2 SKILLED players meet, first one to shoot wins.

Ok here we go with the unlock n00b crap. I suppose you've never tried an unlock before. Or maybe when you were a kid and you got a new bike for your birthday, the bully down the street stole it so you just had to ride your old one around. Is that the real reason you don't like unlocks?

Don't think I'm just bitching about not being able to fly (which I can't, but that's not the point), I know that it takes a lot of skill to be able to fly... I prefer IO because you have to have overall skill. You have to know where to go, when, how to attack, what kit to use and when, how to work with teammates. YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO ORDERS!
I will admit that many people are medic whores and just sit and revive and grenade spammers who just sit/throw/resupply/repeat, but that doesn't compare to the J-10 whores or SU-30 whores that TK just to get their precious vehicle for a few more kills. Those people (medic whores/grenade spammers) have no actual skill (ahem, T#L#O#W) but that's just what comes with the territory, there will be no perfect mode.

Feel free to agree with me or flame me but just make sure it's contructive flaming and state WHY you think I'm wrong/dumb/skill-less/etc.
overall skill = infantry... not infantry and vehicle?? Think again.

what kit to use and when? That's easy, Medic... If your not a medic your a detriment to your team because you can't heal or revive. No other kit is needed and no other kit would ever be used if everyone was serious about winning.

TKing for Vehicles: Just doesn't happen on servers I play on. The only time you are TKed is by an asshole who would TK you if you were in a vehicle or not... The added bonus of the server is a simple Screenie of the incident sent to the admins results in a 2 week holiday for the offender... 2nd offence = 4 weeks and 3rd = perm ban.

  • Takes much less skill, much less real teamwork and tactics (a lot more medic whoring).
  • Its only played on 4 maps.
  • Commanders are very useful but over all a lot more boring, so not used properly.
  • Games are rarely close: even ones where the players skill is even, ticket bleed and the inability to quickly reach a needed flag for defence or to flank the opposition causes games to end with one team 70+ tickets ahead.
  • Its just too easy... like seriously too easy. If you can't get a 2:1 KDR then your doing something very wrong. KDR of 40:3 are not uncommon and it has nothing to do with how good that person is.
  • The game and maps where not designed for IO (except Jalalabad) and as such are most are too big, too one sided and overall just boring.
  • Vehicles takes skill, its only the opposing teams lack of effort that makes them seem easy. When your getting 'vehicle raped' do you spawn as AT or do something constructive to destroy the threat, or is that someone else's job??

I used to use unlocks. Theyre so overpowered and n00bish that I just wont use them anymore. Neither will any player in this game that has real skill. Unlocks were added by EA for the n00b whiners that were horrible at the game and couldnt adapt so they could get cheap kills with overpowered weapons and think they were good at the game when they werent. If unlocks were taken out of the game tomorrow 70% of the people that play this game would be so shit they would stop playing.

Not really. G36E has no recoil and the bullets do more damage than a pump shotgun. M16 has more recoil and slower firing rate so 2 "equally skilled" players would end up in the G36E n00b winning because of having the overpowered gun that kills in one burst to the foot.

I just got back from about 15 rounds straight of IO Karkand on a new name.  Yes, you die less as a consequence of being no vehicles, but the teamwork I had tonight was amazing!

My squad alone had over 500 points in a fast-paced 64 man server!  It was ridiculous, if we were on MEC we held the flags and when we were on US we cap'd every flag.  It was nuts.

That is what it was all about, using VOIP, capping flags, destroying noobs and having fun.

It was a great night for gaming.

Personally i like to mix-n-match my gametypes, the option is there for some different gameplay/strategies so why not enjoy it?
Some nights im in IO only others vanilla, but usually i play both each evening.
Quite frankly i love the intense firefights in IO u have at train wreck on karkand for example...)

i like rolling with the tanks, as AT and helping out killing the other tanks, to me thats teamwork. Then rushing to the flag ....BAM.... claymore...oh hang on... "Clear...Alright your good to go !"

You see I play both I/O as well but I find people dont seem to know how to use a gun its nothing but nades, Its gotten to the stage where you come up against a nade guy and instead of taking out hes gun he just throws a nade on the ground...??? Anything for a kill I guess. Another thing with I/O is the lame sniper fest it turns into that has to be one of my pet hates.
