Hong Kong's oldest man lives to 107 on diet of smoking but no sex
Hong Kong- The secret of a long life is chastity according
to Hong Kong's oldest man, who said Sunday he had gone for more than
70 years without sex.
Chuan Chi, aged 107 and a smoker for decades, told the Sunday
Morning Post newspaper he had not had sex since he was in his 30s and
believed it may be the ingredient for long life.
"I don't know why I have lived this long," he told the newspaper.
"Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have lived a sex-less life
for many years - since I was in my 30s."
Chi, who came to Hong Kong as a child, had a family as a young man
but lost contact with them during the Second World War when the city
was occupied by the Japanese, the newspaper said.
Since then he has lived alone in a village near the territory's
border with mainland China. Chi said he exercised every day and ate
"a health variety of food."
Chi said he was now thinking of giving up smoking for the good of
his health, especially after smoking was banned in public places in
Hong Kong from January 1.
"I want to quit," Chi said. "Maybe the government should ban
cigarette sales so I can give up."
