Pull ups? Just do them. If you can't do one, then make doing one your goal. When you get to one, then make doing two your goal. So on and so forth. It also depends on how you do your pulls, underhand or overhand. Eyes and ears open, mouth shut. Run a ton and have the desire to never quit. Everything is mental, if you tell yourself you can do it, then you definitely can and will do it. Good luck if you do apply. ;D
Lat Pull-Downs are good for pullups, and any sort of curls. You want to work on your Biceps, and pectorals for Pushups. There's some good fitness programs out there, be on the lookout.Wikipedia wrote:
Assignment to BUD/S is conditional on passing the PST, which requires the following minimums:
* 500-yard swim using breast or side stroke in under 12:30
* At least 42 push-ups in 2 minutes
* At least 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes
* At least 6 pull-ups (no time limit)
* Run 1.5 miles in boots and long pants in under 11:30
* Members’ vision must be no worse than 20/20 in both eyes. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. SEAL candidates may qualify for PRK surgery to correct their vision
Again, the above are the minimum requirements necessary to qualify for BUD/S. Prospective trainees are expected to far exceed these minimums. Competitive scores (according to Stew Smith, an ex-SEAL) are as follows:
* 500-yard swim using breast or combat side stroke in 7:00-8:30 minutes
* 100-120 push-ups in 2 minutes
* 100-120 sit-ups in 2 minutes
* 20-30 pull-ups from a dead hang (no time limit)
* Run 1.5 miles in boots and long pants in 8:30-10:00 minutes
You also need a lot of dedication. You need to be in top physical condition, and even then you might not make it, because stuff happens and you can easily get dropped due to injury or a mistake. I suggest sitting down and thinking about if that's what you want.
How old are you? What grade and do you play any sports?
why do you care? just wondering.Major.League.Infidel wrote:

The sports to see how physically active you are, and recommendations for different ones to suit the requirements. The age to see the maturity (as in, was this brought on after you Finished SOCOM, or did you think about it).theit57 wrote:

How are you at swimming? Very important aspect of SEALS. I suggest talking to a recruiter about the SEAL Challenge Contract.theit57 wrote:

Talk to your recruiter. If your as old as you say you were, you should get on it ASAP. The Max age to apply is 28, and it's entirely possible you fail BUD/S the first time, but you can take other chances. Do the contract, and your recruiter should take you to physical conditioning and such.theit57 wrote:

The point was for him to do pushups. The main part of that statement was the pullups.-=raska=- wrote:

Run as much as you can. Swim as much as you can. Make sure you can do well over a hundred pushups without stopping. Do lots of pullups and dips. There are plenty of other exercises but i cant think of what they are called right now. Make sure you can easily carry stuff on your shoulders and do lots of walking up and down hills with it.
And whatever you do, do not ring that bell!

Also, i'm sure somewhere you can find videos of the BUDs program. Watch those and see what all they do. Work on that as hard as you possibly can.
already done, found them on YoutubeKamikaze17 wrote:

My goal is to become a SEAL too, but I'm going in as a Corpsman for two years before I go for BUD/S.
Here's a great site for some help that I found helpful:
http://www.navyseals.com/community/forums/index.cfm
Those boards are full of people who want to become SEALs, who have been to BUD/S but didn't pass, or, very rarely, people who are actually SEALs.
Also, the information on that site has piled up since 1996, so there's a HUGE amount of topics that talk about what types of training you can do for what part of your body at whatnot.
