I've been getting these weird effects on BF2 i was wondering if there is any way of getting rid of them. Anyway
it looks like poles are coming out of the ground and sometimes they come out of my gun, jets, tanks almost out of everything It sometimes even freezes my CPU oh yeah and it also looks like a cool portal is opening right in front of me but its the same thing that is ruining the game for me anyway if you know what I'm talking about please help.

maybe reinstall the drivers for the card. I've had this happen before but it sounds like your card is laughing at you.

I'm assuming that this doesn't happen when you first start BF2?  And, that this is a rather recent development?

My guess is that your graphics card is overheating ... perhaps all you need to do is get some "Dust Off" and blow the dust out of the heat sink to improve the cooling.

Check your graphic card temps!! Take off the side of your case.

Try out Everest its good at mesuring temps. or if you have an NVidia card right click on your desktop go to proporties, then settings, advanced, then go to the tempurature tab (you may not have this) and check it there.

Seriously, post your specs and what graphics settings you're running at.

Graphic artifacts due to overheating.
Clean out your PC casing, especially the fans and heatsinks.
Also, you could try and play with the casing opened and maybe a ventilator placed next to it.

Have you overclocked anything?

Screen shots? rig specs? we can only speculate as to the problem if you don't give us specifics.

Its what's known as 'visual artifacting'. Happens if GFX card overheats, or is overclocked too much, maybe because of dust. My 9700 did it all the time, and if i OC the X1900 i have now i get exactly the same.
Graphics settings can have an effect but only if you're pushing an old card way past its limit (like a radeon 9x series on max)

What card have you got and what speed are you running?
