Is it possible to set the position on the screen where a new window opens (via flags in the shortcut or something)? I'm not talking about HTML. I mean can I get a program (TS, for example) to open at a certain place on my desk top?

I know you can set the position of a new browser window using HTML, so windows must be able to support this, instead of just opening windows randomly. I've recently added a second screen, and every time I open something it appears on the wrong screen

PS lol, I just hit spell check and the window opened on the other screen

Normally, when you drag a window from screen1 to screen2 and close it on screen2 it will usually open on screen2 the next time.

At least that's how my DualView works with nVidia.  I suspect the ATI cards are pretty much the exact same.

After you move the TS window over to the other screen, then close it, where does it open next time you launch it? If that doesn't remember it's position, there's really nothing you can do. (as far as I know)

Nah, tried that. Both TS and speedfan keep opening on my primary display and half off the bottom of the screen. I want to have them on my secondary so I can see them while I'm playing BF2, it's just a pain to have to move the windows around every time I play.

EDIT: Adobe reader and 3D mark will reopen where there were when I closed them. It must be application specific. Oh well, it was just me being lazy and not wanting to keep moving the windows

Good programming practice is to remember where the window was, but not all programs are written "Good" (well).

By default the Windows API allows you to place a windowed form as Designed, Center Screen, Center Desktop (Spanning), or Center Parent.  Most coders do as Designed then calculate screen center on initial launch, then save the window X,Y everytime it is moved or resized.  Like I said though, not all programs are created equal.

This may help though:

"Hold the Ctrl key when closing a folder window."
