Just a list of bugs/annoyances on bf2 that make it unplayable.
I thought that some of these problems were just my old pos computer, but when i got a new pc (E6700, 8800gtx 2G corsair ram) and these problems still persisted, it pissed me off.

1. It takes ages to load up the game
i)The movies take ages ( at least you can delete them to stop it)
ii)The login, connecting to account server, takes at least 1.5 minutes.
2. The server list scan brings your computer to a standstill. No idea why, its very slow and lags whole pc.
3. When you exit BF2 you get error chords. and pc lags for about 1 minute afterwards.
4. Cant use intellikeyboard buttons to control music(winamp) while playing.
5. Random crashes during play. (at least twice per day) The funny thing is, when it randomly crashes, it actually takes less time to exit (and makes no error chords) than exiting normally.
6. The hit registration is terrible. I empty multiple clips into people from close range sometimes. Also its fun to see people jumping repeatedly around groups of enemy's without them being able to hit them.
7. The ground vehicle and onfoot physics are terrible. Feels like driving on ice. Cars cant drive up small hills. When i play bf2 after playing CS its disgusting.

Are any of these problems fixed in bf 2142, i was gona get it but if its based on the same engine as bf2 then i dont think i will.

I dont get CTD (or rarely) but its true, when it does crash, no error chords and less time to exit ... lol

huh? What do u mean theres nothing better. Every other online game runs smoothly. Its only the crap that dice/ea put out that is so buggy.

6 is the only valid point on there, and I disagree with 7. It takes me about 30 seconds to load Karkand with a system much lower than that around medium settings.

Mine takes 17 seconds, yes deleted movies and do a few other things.

maybe its big! nearly 3000 servers big - if you learn how to put what you want in the selections it would take far far less time

Its paging your desktop back out into ram, buy more, get a faster hdd, its not a bug its your puny machine, big ram use = nice eye candy so eat the cost or pay the price.

Well again, system stability is down to all sorts of things, mine rarely crashes, I can play for hours on end, round after round.

it is terrible sometimes, usually when the two players have a lag difference (eg two 200 pingers come face to face) but if you can name me one engine that didnt have netcode issues at some point of its evolution ill send you some cookies (or maybe I wont).

And CS has how many vehicles? Ever used sensitivity? Pehaps you should stick to CS, you sound like youd be far happier there.

No, 2142 is far worse, its got even more overhead its the same engine, if you cant run this you wont have a good time there either

What he's saying is that no other game offers the Battlefield experience. None of the immersion, the vast gameplay opportunities. CS:S has no vehicles.

Man, no - one is forcing you to play the game, there are a plethora of other games out there waiting for someone just like you to play them and then bitch about them.
I, and many others enjoy the game and take great pleasure in playing it. The odd errant bug is just one of those things you learn to put up with.
Chill man and just get on with playing.

The server lists for other online game are even bigger. Right now there are 71,958 servers for Counter-Strike and their server browser works flawlessly.

BF2 is the only full screen game i know that does this, every other game ive played can exit fine. Also i have 2g of c4 corsair ram. Which is pretty top of the line.

True most games have trouble with netcode some time in thier development. But bf2 is at the end of its development, which makes it unacceptable.

The onfoot physics annoy em more than vehicle physics i didn't relay make that clear.

Exactly i wouldnt care if there was a decent alternative to battlefield. But there isnt another game that offers the game type. I just want these bugs to be fixed so i can enjoy the game more.

oh and that was 17 seconds to load into the game desktop, not just to the account screen.


Just for you, I just went into the server screen to see how long a full list would take....2,745 servers took 15.1 seconds.  Think you have a pc problem dont you? If you claim you have 2gb of ram then its probably your poor worn out XP installation (or a freshly shagged one, either way) or bad driver setup or something.

Oh and again, its your keyboard software manufacturer not updating its own software to work, not really bf2s fault if they have a new way of handling the kb, and since there are other things that work (logitech, macro s/w etc) then it can't be hard for them to update it - just its M$ so theyll want you to buy a new one, yours is obsolete, no matter how new it is.

Its not at the end, its along a road, just like your favourite valve engine was when they introduced their new netcode model to evolve the quake2 engine that they launched half life, team fortress and cs on, it was terrible, it was cl_lc 0 all the way but thats not needed now is it?

vehicle sensitivity is on a different screen

The thing is all the problems i described here ive had on 2 separate systems and my friends have some of them too. The long connecting to account server might be because i live in australia and the account server is in the us. also it takes me 2 minutes 30 seconds to get from  booting bf2 to the main bf2 menu.

Try downloading the latest drivers. But it works fine with my G15

sorry, I was too lazy to read past uh...when someone said it took 15.1 seconds to load 2k servers.

I'd say....learn to properly use that 'moster rig' of yours.

I get ... 70+ FPS Constant, ANY MAP. High on EVERYTHING. Login..takes...20 seconds TOPS. Delete some of your favorite servers. Exiting BF2? Takes...no time at all. Yay for crappy ram eh? Cars? They go up hills. Hell the tank goes up the hill behind the bunker at beach on wake. That's all you need..you aint gonna climb a much steeper hill bud.

The crashes? Maybe you should stop being like me, and switching back to the same team at the end of the round. If your gonna do that, DEAL (like me) with the crashes...
