hey guys im going to upgrade my motherboard and i want to know if a DDR 400 will work with DDR 333 memory
You'll get your best performance by having all your RAM of the same type. Putting 400 in there will just slow it down to perform like the 333. You might as well save your money and just buy more 333.
the classic answer: maybe. it really depends on the mem controller you are using, the timings you run, if CPC is enabled, if you run dual channel, .....
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
it will but there will be very little performance gain
you havnt started the size though you just said DDR
are you having 2Gb or 1?
like chittysaid
it will be slowed because of the slower memory, you best bet will be to upgrade the 333 to 400 and run it dual channel if the mobo supports it.

guys...i think you misunderstood (or else i did)
he's getting a new motherboard, and has ddr333 ram. the new mobo supports ddr400. he wants to know if he needs to get new ram as well.
my suggestion: just get a new system. yours seems pretty old, and i'm personally amazed that it runs bf2.
