Please describe your positive/negative experiences with Windows Vista and BF2142. Also please be sure to include what version of Vista (your edition as well as 32 or 64-bit) you're running.

I'm installing the game as we speak; I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit and as for the OS I've had nothing but a great experience so far. Will report on the game shortly.

My comp:
Athlon 64 3200+
2GB Kingston HyperX PC3200
MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum
Radeon x800 Pro AGP

Performance is good in 32-bit.

1.5GB of DDR2 RAM,
1.73GHz Pentium M processor,
GeForce 6800 Go videocard.

Once I get a job, I'm upgrading to a proper desktop platform.

I get absolutely shit performance during some heavy titan combat. No idea why, because all settings levels do not make a difference. It's like there's a bug that's using up way too much CPU power.

I tried playing last night with my exact same settings from when I was running WinXP. Sad to say the performance was noticeable lower. I'll need to heavily play with my graphics settings before venturing forth again.
Also, the beta Soundblaster drivers don't support EAX anymore and only pump out some low quality sounds. Apparently M$ effectively killed EAX [in its current form] on Vista by reworking part of how drivers function. I'm eagerly awaiting new Soundblaster drivers as well as for M$ to get off their butt and add some support for them, which should have been done a long time ago.

Let me just put as a disclaimer: Performance results are not representative of true potential, as most drivers are either beta or just rushed out to satisfy the population.

I would wait until better drivers are out.

Last Friday 09Mar2007 my HDD crashed to an unrecoverable point and I wasn't able to find my XP disc. So I ended up installing Vista and got all available drivers for my hardware to where there were no conflicts in device mgr. Things were looking good, all was running fine. Went ahead and installed BF2142 and attempted to play it. I have to say, it was an absolute NIGHTMARE trying to play for the first 10 minutes it took to load everything into memory (only 1GB PC6300 DDR2 XMS2Corsair, but never had issues b4). Symptoms included: slow to load Spawn Selection map, stuttering sound, very very low frames/sec, and everything else known to be "lag". Eventually it felt like it finally got up to about 70% of what it originally was on XP, but never fully got there. Since then I have reinstalled XP (thank you puppy...for hiding my disc under your pillow) and I finally feel back up to 100%. Don't know what it was about Vista that caused it, a.) not enough RAM b.) superfetch slowly releasing RAM to 2142 [i may not fully understand what superfetch does] c.) beta drivers.

I think I'll be giving the mfg's of my hardware a good year to come up with some nice and solid drivers before attempting to use Vista again.

I guess I've lucked out.  I'm running 32bit Vista Ultimate and haven't had any significant issues at all.

My rig isn't special AMD 3200+, x1900GT, 1GB of crap PC2700 RAM, 160GB 10k raptor HDD.  I've had times where it seemed to be accessing the HDD for a really long time, but not had any significant lag issues or anything.  My experience on XP with the game wasn't "wonderful" so compared to Vista I'd say they are about equal.

I guess I'm just a lucky one.

Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2GB Corsair 800MHz XMS2 RAM
X1900XT 512MB Slave Edition
Dell 17" Ultrasharp TFT

No in game issues whatsoever! However, when I quit the game, Windows thinks that it unexpectantly crashed and wants to send an error report.

My specs, win vista home premium 32 - bit
Core 2 duo E6400
2GB DDR2 667Mhz
Nvidia 7900GS 256MB
20" widescreen

No problems at all, runs really smooth, though i havent played much titan since upgrading so we'll see about that, just annoying that widescreen isnt supported but i can live with a slightly stretched picture, vista really does need about 2GB to run everything smoothly, its a bit of a hog RAM wise.  Really like the OS so far, will be nice when drivers are optimised and all the featurs can be taken advantage of
