Hey there, Ive just started to fly jets after only flying choppers in my BF2 career.  I am a pretty bad pilot at this point but Im learning a bit each time I fly.  My bombing isnt all that great at the moment but I do get the drift of it and its just a matter of practice.  My question is this:  When Im flying (mostly its been in Euro Force maps like Taraba Quarry and Smoke Screen) I can do decent against other air vehicles and ok for bombing ground vehicles but as soon as a LineBacker locks on to me im fucked.  I dont know how to shake their missles.  On Taraba Quarry they seem to park right betwwen the 2 airstrips and just take me down all the time.  I know that most ppl would just head straight over and bomb them, but Im new at flying and its difficult for me still.  Probably  3 or 4 outta 5 deaths for me is because a linebacker locked on to me and I couldnt shake the missles.  Is there a secret to lose them?  I dont know any great moves in jets, I just try and use the afterburner and do sharp turns but this isnt working. Usually I just run out of afterburners and get picked off.    Ive tried to learn by sitting in the bomber seat and switching to the outside view to watch other pilots.. and alot seem to go really low and attempt to use the landscape to lose the missles.  Is this the way to go?  Any thoughts would be a great help.

IMO, ur best bet is to fly low and around objects to avoid the radar/missiles once u have been locked onto, assuming you have already released flares and applied afterburner.

Most jets simply can't evade the missiles very well. The J-10 is the exception, it's got the best evasion success rate.

With the Su-34, I simply flip 90 degrees so I'm somewhat sideways, then just do a continuous circle turn. It usually throws off enough missiles to let me fly back for repairs. Similar methods also work for the F-15 and Su-30. Why? I have no idea.

With the F-35, always  fly high (around 600 meters). The F-35 is very stable at this height, while its main enemies the MiG and J-10 are not. No AA vehicles can get you either. If a missile does lock on to you, dive bomb with afterburners on. You SHOULD outrun the missile if you do this right, but most of the time the F-35 is going to die if a fighter or an AA vehicle can get a steady lock for 2 missiles.

With the F-18 and J-10, do sharp turns with the after burners on. With the MiG, I'm not sure. If you're getting locked on by a jet, just do wacky evasive maneuvers. It's the second most maneuverable jet in the game, which gives it the upper hand over the F-18 when it's being chased.

And finally, just accept the fact that you'll die for bullshit reasons. DICE just gave up on getting a good balance of AA missiles. Really good J10 pilots will never die, but throw that pilot in the F-35 and his death rate increases ten-fold simply because of how the models were made. It's an unfortunate reality, but when the enemy team sucks there's nothing like being skilled in a jet. I frankly love the F-35's handling, I just hate how it gets shot down so easily.

People who sit in AA's always tend to fire as many missiles at you as quickly as they can so once you get lit up wait a few seconds before you pop your flares. Deploying flares when 2-3 missiles are in the air is much better then deploying them the second you get lit up. Once you pop them then drop down steadily quick to stay with the flares. Turning sharp and using after burners is good but just make sure you're not turning back into where the AA is and often times it helps to afterburn and fly straight up when you get lit up then pop your flares. It's much easier to lose an AA lock on with altitude increase.

when i fly and im being tailed, i go to the "look-behind" view and crank the joystick...aka break right/left...right before the missile hits me.  it just takes getting used to.  the best defense is a good offense; come in high and bomb the linebackers before your bomb neutral flags etc...

Smoke Screen - AA sits around the cliffs by the wind farm CP.

Taraba, they sit around either side of the main bridge.

As soon as they lock onto you, flare up and get away from the area. The maps are quite barren, so you have no terrain such as trees and high buildings to help you (although the canyon on Taraba can work).
By flaring up straight away, you will lose the lock tone - they wont be able to get a solid tone on you - and you can be gone.
Keep an eye on the radar, UAV's and team spotting for where the AA is.

Believe me, im a total AA whore on those maps (6.5KDR doesnt come from nowhere) and that method is pretty much the only time I cannot down a jet on them.

I've been playing mobile AA a lot recently and I like it when jet pilots fly low. If you go very high the mobile AA  can't lock on. I don't think going low is as good because it's hard to find safe ground cover in a jet. The second thing is to time the flares correctly. I always shoot all four missiles as quickly as possible so if someone drops flares right after I let go of the first or second one, they get away. Also, flying slowly is like an early christmas present for mobile AA.
