i've found that a T.O.W. to the underside of where the engine would be works really well

Without seeing that secretsofbattlefield site I would have said anyway that always going for the treads or the rear is a good idea.

I remember once when I was in a tank, another one came up the hill and for a moment as he reached the top i had a clear shot at his under side. I took the shot and, although I dont know if he was on full armour or not, he blew up instantly. I would assume that he was on full armour because he had just come from their base (it was on Warlord).

If AT Mines take tanks out in one because its under them then maybe hitting them underneath with a shell or rocket can do the same...

You can put an AT mine on top of a tank and it will still explode from full health I'd say always go for the rear and the treads. If you're against an enemy tank, don't turn away or expose your treads, and don't try to get the recoil thing - it's very random and hard to control, and if you miss (which you most likely will) you'll do jack all to the enemy tank.

I usually win the tank battles with 2 well placed shots.
One thing you don't have to rush to fire.  You and your enemy
have the same reload time.  This gives you the chance to line
up your next well placed shot.

This of course changes if there at AT guys around or tows.

depends on the tank you're in, if you're in a T-90 or the chinese one and are facing an Abrams, go for the front armor above the treads and shoot inward. 1-2 hit kills, otherwise go for the treads.
