The Good
1. No heavy moderating, one are allowed to voice ones opinion (within reason of course) without being smacked in the head with a banhammer. My feeling is you can take it one step further than in any other section of the forum and that`s a good thing !
2. No subject of discussion is turned down, it might be a poor subject but then it will slowly die by it`s own with no posters.
3. Posters with the same view tend to back eachother and that`s clearly a strenght about this section !
4. You don`t have to be a DST member or regular to post in DST.
5. The temperature of a discussion can get very high without causing bad blood amongst it`s posters.
6. New posters are welcomed to join any ongoing discussion.
7. It seems to me most of the regulars could actually have been very good friends IRL.
The Bad
1. I imagine some find it difficult to voice an opinion in DST because they are afraid of ridicule from veteran members.
2. There are two main camps in DST and its hard not to choose side !
3. Some posters mock other posters with a quick and flaming remark rather than voicing an own opinion that`s thought through thouroughly before posting and only leads to a longlasting stupid flamewar that can go over more than one page.
4. There should have been recruited a DST regular to lightly mod this section, it is needed !
5. Most members from both camps holds their principal believes almost ridiculously steady when proven wrong, debate and discussion IRL tends to get most people to agree in the end about a common solution.
6. The temperature can get a little to high sometimes
7. Have seen to often misunderstandings and twists of words in another direction that originally though by it`s author, ask him what he meant by that rather than jumping to conclusions !
The Ugly
1. I have on occasion seen newer debaters being brought to silence by an overwhelming pile of "evidence" with imho are being posted for the sole reason of closing an argument that wasn`t quite finished.
2. Marlboroman (on request)
The Funny
1. What surpriced me the most the first couple of times i posted in DST was that one could start a discussion in one thread, continue the same discussion in another and the finish it off in yet another thread.
2. Now say this fast 20 times : thought through thouroughly
These are some of the reflections i`ve made after spending some time in this excellent section of BF2s.com, i will keep adding some stuff to the list as i go along ......... tnx for reading !
