Good picks, I guess I was shooting for a lower budget..
Still comes in under budget after rebates....

I was going to stick the HSF I use (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro) in it, but it cost loads of money! I bought it in the UK for £12 (it's up to about £15 now but that's still fairly cheap) and it's going for $70 on Newegg. One of the few times I've seen components be cheaper in the UK.

Now I understand why they don't seem so popular with Americans - they don't have the great price incentive to get Arctic Cooling stuff.

Interesting choice with the E4300. Not what I would've done.

Although I hear it overclocks well on lower end MBs.

I suggest that you check out www.pricegrabber.com for prices.  They have products from A to Z including computer parts.  I am in the process of upgrading to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ system.  The cost difference between just going with NewEgg.com and doing a PriceGrabber search will save me around $32.00. ($639.00 at newegg compared to $607.00).  Those prices include 2 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, Geforce 7600 GS (PCI), GAM55SLI-S4 Gigabyte motherboard.  I also found $60.00 in rebates too (included in the above prices).

Some of my friends suggested www.mwave.com too.  They have good prices, but the site is easy to find compatible parts (i.e.: MB, CPU, RAM, Etc.)

Hopefully this will helpful and have fun with your future gaming rig.

Bertster7 knows his stuff as well. But ty. I have to agree with him. The 20 dollars would have been worth it for the higher FSB in the 6300.

alright, well my shipment came in on thursday, spent most of thursday night assembling, finally got to POST on friday, took the weekend off, got it up and running now, but i am having trouble getting windows to recognize the RAID0 setup, hopefully i can get it fixed tonight after work and have some pics for you guys. You all are right, i meant to order the e6300 processor and accidentally ordered the e4300, no biggie, I plan on overclocking it to 3.0mhz and with the P5b mobo it should run nice, the zalman really keeps this thing cool. thanks for all the help again. pics soon!!

also remember, if you are going to buy a really good gfx card and you want high resolution, make sure your monitor can do that resolution.

if you are considering overclocking your cpu, pick out a mobo and ram that is really good at taking it to your overclocking goal.

PICK a very GOOD PSU.

A Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (or better) is a nice soundcard. It has EAX 5.0 Advanced HD.
You can hear a demo here:
http://www.soundblaster.com/products/x-fi/demo/
The game runs a little faster when You got one of these.

i've already seen someone with almost my exact setup oc to 3.0 so i dont think i will have a problem there, I got an Antec TruePower Trio 650w PS so when i go SLI with another vid card later i wont have any power issues.  my motherboard already has an HD audio thingamabobber so i think i'll be cool with sound too, and I'm using a HDtv for my monitor so i dont think i'll have problems there either. anyways since im having trouble getting the raid0 to work i'm just gonna skip it for now, and wait til i upgrade to vista in a few more months, It'll work with vista, but not XP i dont get it but whatever, should have it running tonight with some pics of the setup... more updates after i get off work, in a few hrs.

ok sorry guys, i ended up tearing the whole thing apart last night and rebuilding to try to get my raid0 to work, it still wont, i think it might have something to do with xp not being able to recognize all of my hard drive space, but I dont know for sure.  the beast is up and running, xp is installed I still need to tweak my vid settings and download a few more updates, when i get off of work in 1/2 hour i'll try to snap some pics and put em up
