Thats a kinda westcoast accent, not that bad to understand.  I have a Fife accent which is pretty broad, but the main reason i think why people find us so hard to understand is that we speak so fast.  Im away down to London to see my sister next week and was told to be on my best behaviour and speak slowly so they can understand me, im gonna sound like a retard   Irish for me please.  Love a well spoken english or irish accent! Yum!

I moved around the US quite a bit, so I've been around some of the 'merican dialects.  And unfortunately I pick up accents quickly.  I even will mimic other people unconsciously.

Once I was having dinner with a guy from Wisconsin, a guy New Orleans, and a guy New York - I lost the sale because the New Yorker thought I was mocking him because I kept switching back and forth without knowing it.

I think naturally my accent is pretty screwed up - no one can figure out where I'm from - imagine a western Canadian accent with a Texas twang...

Probably would switch from my U.S. English to a British accent.  Other possibilities include Irish and Australian.

Some kind of Australian accent, preferably like Steve Irwin's.  I pick up accents rather fast too.  I've been to many places, but thankfully never lived anywhere else, or I would have taken the local accent.  I do find that I imitate people I'm around (or hear) a lot, though.

That reminds me of that Arnold Schwarzenegger recording for bf2s someone did a long time ago.  I just ran across it in iTunes, the artist was "Markimus."

Mmm, bit off of teh Canadian accent. That's almost an American accent you've written there. We pronounce it about, with the U and the A (well at least here) and it's eh, not aye.

Back on topic, choices would be Scottish, Irish, or British. Bring back my old family heritage.

If you could switch your accent for something completely different, which would you choose and why?

In my humble opinion, the New Zealand accent is terrible. The most dominant one, being the northland accent is ugly and lazy - anyone who speaks with it sounds like an idiot. For those who don't know the NZ accent, here's some phoenetic Kiwi for you:
"Oi moigh just gow daun tu tha shups and get sum fush und chups."
Aussies I give you permission to giggle at that. To speak it, just relax your cheeks and purse your bottom lip. That'll pretty much get it.
The Southland accent is a lot better, but still not tops. You end up sounding like some kind of Australian Pirate.
The moderate NZ accent, mine - and Sam niell's if you want an example, (Jurassic Park, Alan Grant,) -  is becoming less and less, mostly because it is certifiably the most 'neutral' accent in the world, and because of this, speakers of this accent loose it quickly if put around others with different accents. I find myself lapsing into the northland accent sometimes which is annoying.

So I've decided to switch my accent for a Scottish one. Not the really strong Highland one as such, but something from Edinburgh maybe.
I reckon if I live there for a couple of years I'll pick it up. Either that or listen to "500 Miles" by The Proclaimers on repeat for ages.
Either that or an Irish one, but Scottish would be my first choice.

What about you guys? Do you want a change, or are you fiendishly protective of the accent you have?
Theres a similar problem in the US with so many slurred speakers in the SE it drives me crazy. As where people in the N and W speak proper. I feel like im talking to a retard. Some times i laugh at them.

I used to think my North West of Ireland accent was a bad thing until I found out to my surprise that lots of girls really dig it! I don't have a strong Country hick accent though, I like to think of it as a more refined version! My Chinese mates from college think I sound English!?

If I had to swap it for another accent I'd go for Edinburgh, a lot of girls dig that accent too!
