You can get it free from Limewire or use torrent... easily.
Its only worth it if it won't game crash you (i consider game crash to be sub 15 fps)

yep fraps is good and it shouldn't hinder you performance when just running. But when recording it lowers FPS depending on your computer. If you dont have a kickass computer you should play on servers with Battlerecorder and than after play the files and than record.
