how is this any different from any other nation- how mindnumbingly blind - considering that today they are a major nuclear power with a military that does not rely on the US that makes them a major power by anyones measure

you are looking at the win loss column again and that only works in games...not always in the RW.  Just because battles are lost and won does not mean we lost.  In most cases we were to assist the local regime, government, and people to provide for themselves with a democratic government.  We have succeeded doing that in majority of the cases.  And the rest of the world considers us a World Power...even the places that do not like us are willing to admit that we are.

i'm not disputing that at all - America is the world power du jour
what i am disputing is the arrogant dismissal of other powers on the basis of poor arguments and re 2ndLt.Tucker blind arrogance

If there were an EU army - the French would be the most powerful force in it and an EU army would be - grabted a less well funded compared to America - match to any nation - US, China, Russia, india

Huh?  What are your criteria for a win?  Coming out of a conflict with no losses?  Battle of Bakara Market, 03OCT1993: 18 US KIA, >600 Enemy KIA.  Try to know what you are talking about before you say something stupid.  I'll argue against any one of those being a loss in military terms...except maybe Lebanon because I am not very well informed about that one (maybe one of our Marine friends can take that one?).  If any of them turned out badly (and not all of them did - 1812) it was because the politicians didn't have the stomach to carry through...not because the troops were failing to get the job done.

I agree that the French Army cannot be dismissed...they may have racked up some losses, but that is due in large part to being hamstrung by their politicians.  Same as the 'losses' our generalizing Irish friend claims for the US.

Sure and you might want to think about that friend.  That is no way to make an argument, to be sure.

I agree the eurocopter looks poor - not as sleek as it should be - it will probably be very similar to the current Apache ingame
and the EU seemingly doesnt deserve an APC lol

Sorry, but I spent some time in Somalia, and I react rather quickly when someone calls it a 'loss'.  I think that is very disrespectful of the abilities of the troops who served there.  In any case, it happens more often than you would think...even from other Americans.
