Okay, I know for certain that this card will be mine in the nearest time. It is very good and pretty cheap.
But should I buy the 256mb ram or the 512 ram version.
The prise between these two are not that big but how big is the performance between these cards.

Performance is minimal.  You will not see a difference.

The real difference is you can game longer without a memory dump, because you have more of it.

I've got the 256 card. If you don't play 10h/day, you'll be fine with the 256 one..

Are you talking about the AGP8x or PCI-E16x???

I´ve just bought the X1950PRO AGP8x 512MB Saphire for my 4th system, to replace my good old FX5950ULTRA, and although Im teh Nvidia fanboy in here, I must admit, the GPU is better and faster as my beloved 7800GS AGP in my 3rd system.

About the PCI-E version, dunno! I prefer Nvidia there, but I dont think the 256MBs is the future... Go for 512. RAM is inreplaceable, expect with more RAM

id say you need around a 500W to run that graphics card no problem.

wattage is sub-par to amps imo. google some proper PSU-guides to actually understand what will or wont work.

As for the video card, RAM makes little difference once you go beyond the "enough" threshold, but high-end games will gladly use it, especially new ones coming out.

Touche.

Make sure you have about 18 - 20A on your +12V rail to run it properly.

This may be a noobish and dumb question but can it run for xp. Because under systemdemands it says vista.

Weird.

I think the main thing that memory effects it the resolution. The more memory, the better it can display high res. But what kind of res I don't know.

get the cheaper option, milk it to its max but its not gonna last long either way. DX10 gaming is so close now there's no point in wasting your cash. settle for second best for now - after all, its perfectly adequate. The X1950 256mb blows today's games out the water at the moment...

Oh. And a DX9 graphics card will run what its told to run. It doesn't need the OS, the OS needs IT!

An AGP 8800? intresting

by the way no matter which X1950 you buy, dont buy the standard edition with the standard cooler they've had some problems with heat.
