Well i seem to have killed about 100 brain cells trying to understand this so i come here searching for help.

I just bought a 32" wide screen tv, the other day i thought it would be cool if i connected it to my computer to watch movies and play some games. Now the manual Says it has an RGB/PC slot ( This is were i get confuzzueld). the next page has the supporting signals table.

it reads as follows:

PC/VGA                      VGA            720x400                          70hz
                                                    640x480                          60 hz,75 hz
PC/HDMI                     SVGA          800x600                          60hz,75 hz
                                  XGA            1024x768                        60 hz, 75hz
                                  SXGA           1280x1024                      60 hz

So im looking for a cable to go from my 8800gts to my 32" tv. So my question is what would look the best and what kind of cable am i looking for. if you need more info on the tv its a Konka KDL32AT23U the 32" version.

Thanks in advance.

Check the connections from the back.

Which of these does it have?

You have an 8800GTS with a VGA port on it? That's unusual. Mine and every other one I've ever seen has a DVI port on the back. There should also be an S-Video out port for TV out, but that is unlikely to be your best option.

The best ways of doing it would be (in this order):

DVI cable
DVI - HDMI cable
VGA cable
Component video cable over S-Video adapter
S-Video
Composite Video

But you have told us nothing about what ports either device has, so it's almost impossible to determine.

To me, that says that using the blue VGA input you will only get a max resolution of 720x400 (awful) or 2) using the HDMI input you will get up to 1280x1024 (reasonable).

The 8800s have dual dvis so for 1) you will need a DVI to VGA cable, inexpensive and easy to get or for 2) a DVI to HDMI cable *may* work (or may not, keep the receipt).

EDIT: or for 1) you may have got a DVI>VGA adaptor with your 8800 so use that and a standard vga cable throughout- itll still be a crap picture tho.

I currently have my rig hooked up to a Sceptre 37", which is ran by a 7900gt (or gs, one of the two). All of which is connected via DVI->VGA adapter that came with the graphics card. I chose this way since it will still allow for 1920x1080 and I can have an extra port open for a future PS3 or 360.

But, my point being, DVI-VGA is respectable. But why the hell would that TV only go to 1280x1024 via HDMI? That's just nuts.
