So, while playing BF2, I get random lag spikes. Every 10  - 20 seconds my ping will shoot up to 250+ and then go back down. This is coupled with me jittering across the map and completely losing any sense of direction fora  few seconds.

I've done AV and anti-spyware scans, and I'm clean.

This is starting to get fricken annoying.

Any suggestions?

What Anti-Spyware do you use?

I had some problems with Webroot Anti-Spyware awhile back.  It caused my game to pause every so often for a second or so.

Another gig of ram. Probably the result of running out of physical memory.

That should be the first question you answer.  It also could be VOIP.  Try turning it off ingame and see if that does anything.

No, I have a wired Linksys router.

It's not the router because it only happens to me. My dad plays and his game is fine.

I'm leaning towards either A: Crappy ethernet cable, or B: Crappy NIC.

Go to options and then audio, and uncheck the box "Enabled".

That's BF2 for ya!

It could have something to do with the fact that I have a USB headset, and VOIP doesn't like it... I dunno...

That happens to me, too. I have a wireless linksys and every minute, My ping of 50 shoots to 800 or even 1000.

The exact same thing used to happen to me. Fixed it by turning off Wireless Zero Configuration. To turn it off go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools (Classic View)> Services, scroll down until you find Wireless Zero Configuration and disable it. Connect to your wireless network using the software that came with your wireless and it should work.
