....trying for Expert Pistol, playing in full (or close to) IO servers?  I've had a few times where I was close, but always seem to fall short due to relatively quick rounds.  For the most part I try to just use Medic kit, toss grenades a little bit off of my targets to wound them, and clean up with my pistol.

I don't care all that much about trying to earn specific badges (most of mine have come without really specifically trying for them, even the knife badges), but I've been kind of bored with BF2 and noticed I can get a 2-for-1:  Expert Pistol, and then Sharpshooter Infantry Medal.

Opinions? Should I be looking for half-full servers if I actually want this?  Am I gonna have to polish my sniping-then-pistoling skills? (Sorry I didn't feel like searching and bumping some ancient thread moaning about how this is impossible to get)




On a different subject, I looked at the requirements for General and saw time requirements listed...is that info. still correct?  If so, I'm going to have to start playing WORSE if I want to become a General.  Nice game design there...

I played a Jalal server to get mine. Took me a few tries but I eventually got it.
Easiest way is to go a medic so you can heal yourself whilst on the USMC side, their pistol is the best.
Try sniping a few targets with the pistol or sneak around some snipers and paste them.

Like, 18 of em?   I had around 12-14 kills the last time I tried that, but that was a real pain due to rampant claywhoring.

I guess I would want it "legit", but a pistol/knife server would make it damn easy...if BFROE aren't looking into those anymore, I may just puss out and go that route.

AGREED!

That's how I got mine, especially on an IO server.   Pistol vs. Tank = U LOSE!!

Especially TRY for headshots.

Either that or unload the whole clip into them as accurately and quickly as possible.
Also, be a Medic. U never know when you'll need a Smiley-faced band-aid to put on your wounds.

Knife/Pistol servers are NOT legit. The servers are not being chased by EA/ROC/ROE or whoever it is these days. WHY you ask? because EA/ROC/ROE are a bunch of pussies.

You can still have your stats reset if someone reports you. K&P is not the way EA/DICE intended the RANKED game to be played.

If you really needed to play K&P then there are something like 2000 unranked servers out there some of which probably play K&P.

OP:

Large maps with few people (20). Karkand is the best because once the USMC have 1 flag then there is NO BLEED. All tickets lost are due to kills. Warlord and Sharqi are similar but the attacking team needs 2 flags to stop the bleed. You don't need I/O (i didn't anyway) but if all else fails...

Do what i did, go on a 64 player wake server, go all round with your pistol only! killing and practicing and keep doing it until your good at it and can easilty beat your 18 kill target..then have a go at it, i did it on 64 player wake easily because i spent so long using the pistol.

option one: assault kit (for max armor) and aim for the head.  <-difficult

option two: sniper kit- one shot sniper to bring health down to two red bars then take out pistol and finish them.

I got my expert pistol the legit way, no knife/pistol servers.  I did it in a 64 man size karkand map with the sniper kit.  Id shoot ppl in the foot or torso (never the head) with the sniper rifle effectivly taking down 95% of their health then finish with the pistol.  I also just ran around tight quarters and rapid fired with it at point blnk: very effective there too.  All in all it was pretty easy to get.  I just recomend going in a server with 20-30 people in it.  If you have a full 64 size map, the rounds end in a flash and you'll never get it.

Very valid tactics.  I took out a guy manning the tow from the railroad to the gatehouse. I got him with a shot from the M24 and then took out  the 92F and proceeded to fire in the direction until the x registered a hit. He was like what the heck happened. Wounding them with the sniper rifles sets them up for the long range pistol kill.

My problem isn't dying too much while I'm trying to achieve it...I simply wind up getting 10-14 pistol kills or so, at least a few grenade kills, and then a bunch of assists from other people "stealing" my kills (part of the problem on a full IO server).

And I really dislike sniping for some reason. (probably from being disgusted by AWP whores in my formative years as a teenage CS junkie)

Part of my problem is I haven't really DEDICATED myself to achieving this...I've just tried for it maybe once every other night for the past couple of weeks.

I think I just need to suck it up and keep trying with what I'm doing, but its going to be a pain in the ass.  Half-full servers on Karkand are probably going to be my best best.

like said before. full server, sniper-kit. but the round shouldn´t be over too quick. it is just better to have more opponents, because there is more action, so nobody searches for a single sniper in good cover. i made mine on sharqi with vehicles... good luck


and btw: k&p is still statspadding and against the roe. it might be, that bfroe doesn´t take reports no more, but bfroe is NOT officially in charge to reset peoples stats. EA is. and they still reset. and if you are too noobish to get the expert - leave them to the better players...

Varegg, I think you are only partially correct here.

BFROE refers to both a document (the Battlefield Rules of Engagement) and a group of people who enforce the ROE (they police servers and act as a reporting intermediary to EA's Customer Service).

In my understanding, EA has instructed the independent BFROE group to stop being an intermediary for policing and reporting .... however, the BFROE document (in which P&K servers are declared to be illegitimate) was adopted by EA and is still in effect. 

I believe I have seen in the last month where EA reset stats for someone being on a P&K server.

One of the easiest ways, that's for sure. Especially if you use the M95... nothing like knowing someone's down to 2 bars to give you confidence the pistol's going to do the job.

Try SF then, easy way to avoid many common locations for claymores (likely to be less of them anyway). Plus you can sneak around a map a lot easier with the zipline, to shoot unsuspecting people in the back.

Warlord is the obvious first choice but I bet you could do it in Ghost Town too without much trouble. Warlord's the best though since games on a 64-player map with a low player load can last a loooong time (120+ points long, playing as sniper). Say with 12-20 players if you went for this full-on I can't imagine not getting the 18 kills, long before the round ended unless there's a cap-out.

I am proud that I got this image in my online game statistics in the fair and normal way. Normal server and just use my L96A1 to hit and finish with pistol

I remember when I got this (at the second try, and all!). I was playing on a good 64-man server, 2 rounds a map, full rotation. A good [American] friend of mine happened to be on at the time, and we won the first round pretty comfortably. Next round I decided to go for it - I was squad-leader, so resigned from this and my friend became it. He was a medic, there were two other medics and a couple of support - a great squad that won the last round practically single-handedly. I just went mad with a pistol & they kept reviving me (my friend and another great guy who we met there). Simply amazing. The few games that followed I just went pistol crazy to celebrate. Mashtuur was excellent as engineer (S12K and pistol - best combination ever!) - I beat all the armour 'whores' and all of the medics. Simply outstanding teamwork.

Try the special forces route.  I worked Devils Perch for mine but i didn't get it until I sniped Warlord.  The cover of night give you an advantage.  I used sniper and moved from roof to roof with the zip lines.  The high ground give you great perspective an usually open shots.  I would snipe a body shot and finish off with the pistol while they tried to locate my position or run away.  Just make sure you move around so the enemy snipers don't lock on to you.

For a lot of players yes. Obviously... otherwise wouldn't nearly everyone have it?
