So I upgraded from a x1900xt to a 8800 GTX and now I can not put Battlefield 2 in 1450x1080 res.

for 1 thats an odd resolution and it can be as simple as the card cant support it.
Is the resolution not available in the Options? If it's not, try forcing the res with the shortcut switch:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1450 +szy 1080
