Hello

I'll get straight to it.

My component cable is switched to HD. It seems to run in 480p ok, but will not go any higher. The tv supports upto 1080i. When ever I select 1080i settings in the dashboard, they always revert back to 480p, even if I tell it to save the settings.

The xbox also says that HDTV support is not available because its set to regular TV, but I have flicked the swith on the component cable??

With the explanation I have given, does anyone know what maybe wrong?

Still got this problem.

Heres what I wrote in another forum elsewhere.

"For some reason I cant get my xbox to run in 1080i.

One time when I was playing  it restarted and then went to 1080i, but that was a one off and it lasted less than 10 minuets before reseting and going back to 480i

I think I may have a faulty connection somewhere. Either the component cable or the 360 connection port???

I dunno.

Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone got ideas for a fix? I already sent my 360 to get repaired once, it would be a pain if I had to do it again."

I've never had any problems like that with mine but i have mine on the 1080p selection and when I'm on the dashboard and in games that support it, it works fine.

edit: btw nice gamertag icon in your sig, somehow it seems remotely like mine...

OK SIMPLE FIX MY Fellow 360 Friend... Go in to Main Window....
Go to Settings or options window...
Display settings...
then switch from 720 to 1080... Enjoy the HD Experience...

I was playing Oblivion on regular settings and was very unhappy, b/c it looked like shit, until i realized this simple fix...

Sadly im not that stupid. I have checked these settings. I think its most likely a faulty cable. I will get a new one to see if it fixes the problem, then I shall post back here.
