I have been playing this game since the demo, and bought BF2 the day it came out, and still don't have my MEC ribbon. After searching a little bit, Is it true that if you played SF before getting it that your screwed? I think I played SF before I ever finished a round on Kubra. Aany other tips?
I've heard of a lot of weird bugs regarding the MEC ribbon. Nobody seems to know the reason for it, nor does there seem to be a cure for it. You'd be best off just playing and maybe one day you'll get it. As long as you've got the requirements down, feel like you've gotten it anyways. After all, in the real world, the ribbon means jack shit

Yep, the Middle East Service Ribbon is a strange thing. I don't have it yet either.
The requirements stated here on BF2S of playing all MEC maps and the requirement of getting a 10 kill streak and 18 kills IAR stated elsewhere are definitely not the whole truth, as two friends of mine both recently got the ribbon with their best kill streak being 6 kills in a row and each missing one MEC map.
Both have not played EF before, but have played SF.

Perhaps I'm gonna test out the kill streak requirement theory one day, as I haven't played EF with that account.
I'd say the bug theory, if you have played Euro Force before getting the ribbon (which I did), is the most likely reason considering all the other bugs this game has, although, I've heard some people haven't played any expansion or booster and still don't have it.

Try for a win on Kubra Dam, its the only MEC map you do not have a win on. Worth a shot.
And another thing you might try, try to get over 100 playing as MEC, you don't have that either.
Try having another round on all the mec maps...

so its weird have -2 karma? thanks for the help guys, i forgot about Kubra Dam, I'm gotta get a win there. And for having it since it came out and only having 22G's, i play basketball and stuff and dont have all that much time.

Same thing happens to the Chinese Ribbon. I have yet to get it and I have almost 200 hours played as China.

Everyone of you who thinks it's a bug - hold your mouse-pointer 3 secs over the mec-ribbon on your stats site and it tells you why you haven't got it yet. Go figure.

Yea me too. Was trying to get it last night, the only reason I could see was that I never lost on Shongua Stalemate, got in the game, then realised it was USMC Vs PLA anyway! lolz
