Blame the fighting movies that I've been watching, but I've become more interested in this lately. I was wondering what kind of martial arts people here practice or would like to. For me, I'd like to learn Krav Maga ever since I became aware of it from Splinter Cell. I'm sure there's a bunch more cool styles that I could learn. BTW- at least one martial arts topic, but it was a bit old so a new one wasn't out of the question

krav maga is nice but muay thai is better, learn to take a hit and learn how to beat the crap out of others in the ring with elbows knees and fist.
I started with Judo when I was 5 then moved to kick boxing did that untill I was 14 then moved to Muay Thai at 18 I went to train in Thailand for a year.... now im 33 and hardly have to time to train I miss it.

I studied Tae Kwon Do when I was in my teens and floated different schools in my early 20's.

Whatever you choose, you will be effective as you are motivated. If I were to resume today I would go with something like Hapkido (on account of getting older).

FYI ... if you want just want to learn to kick someones ass, go to a traditional boxing gym and learn some wrestling.

I'm doing Karate at the moment; Go-kan Ryu school. Currently most of the way towards yellow belt.

I want to learn muay thai and possibly judo at some point in the future, since crippling people and tossing them around like ragdolls seems a blast.
Or possibly a traditional swordfighting technique.

Tae-Kwon-Do with a bit of Judo. I know 25 pressure points and can easily break a person's arm or kill them. I am just 15.

I'm 21. I can cause a lot of pain rather quickly, and quite probably outrun you afterwards.

Yes, you will be tough, but my fighting skills aren't much about power, but more on technique. I can break a man's arm with just the force of breaking cheap plastic, which isn't that much force. I have broken 3 arms in total during neighborhood fights. I also knocked out 4 people within 30 seconds. I still respect everybody's skills, though.

I'll probably be able to do similar things when I actually learn how. Until then, I'm down to the classic strategy of kicking for the nuts, the knees, or the ribs, and legging it.

nothing wrong with that when defending yourself! also don't forget the throat. get a good shot on that and no matter who it is, they wont be able to fight if they cant breathe!

From what I understand, Krav Maga is a very straightforward and formidable fighting style. Concentrating on efficiency and brutality.  If I'm not mistaken, it is used in Israeli military training as well.
Never tried it, but have seen a few things on it.  Seems pretty impressive.

I currently train in Aikido and Yagyu Shinkage-ryu hyoho (a koryu swordstyle)
I have crosstrained informally with practitioners of Jiu-Jutsu, Judo, Wing Chun, and Muay Thai (but not proficient)
As many have stated in the past, regardless of which art or style you choose, your fulfilment and enjoyment in the art will be commensurate with how much you put into it.
The other thing to consider when choosing an art to train in- What are you looking to get out of it?
Self defence, Kick some @ss, a healthy hobby...there are many motivations and many choices (none are necessarily wrong but understanding these factors will help guide you toward a suitable art).

Happy Training
