Sorry, I never got this ironed out, and now I need to find the answer.

Do you have to use Windows XP 64-bit with a Core 2 Duo processor?  I just need to find out which application to download in relation to my operating system.

You can use 32-bit win xp with core 2 duo. But because that cpu supports the 64-bit win xp I recommend getting it if you want to use 64bit stuff in the future (but 32-bit drivers and some applications don't work in 64-bit. games will tho)

No. C2D are 64 bit, but they are backwards compatible to 32 bit.

So you can use Windows XP 32 AND Windows XP 64 on your C2D.

If you want to be 1 bazzilion percent sure, download VMWare and try to run a 32 bit and 64 bit guest OS and see if you can.
