warlord is good for sniping - got both vets there. tip: counter-snipe the insurgent snipers that pop up on the TV station roof, trying to deal with the inital wave of brits. then focus on the plaza flag... then move further into the map as the capping permits. you'll have basic in no time.
Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot. Point, shoot.
There. You have earned the Basic Sniper Combat Badge. Congratulations!

Shouldn't be to hard at all mate, I regularly get 20+ kills with the rifle alone on karkand.
Best bet is to try on karkand with the M95, aim for the body as the M95 ALWAYS does 95 damage, and being a urban map with lots of combat, most players running around will probably have suffered some sort of damage, so 1 shot should knock them off easily.
If you still fail, jump in a tank/jeep/helo/jet and kill a few ppl.

Got both basic and veteran on Sharqi.
Best tip I can give you is not to snipe from places people aspect, such as cranes, watertowers...
Enemy snipers will easily spot and kill you. Instead, hide near trees, in tall grass, in bushes... to make it harder to spot you. If you do get spot relocate immediately and leave a "surprise" behind for enemies who want revenge and come looking for you.

I did it . I have my Basic Sniper Combat Badge! YEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
I did it without using aromor or an APC. Just with my rifle and pistol. On the map Mashtuur City how many players I don't know.

I made 20 kills with a sniper although I didn't make GLOBAL requests of Veteran Sniper Badge before so It didn't help me but for Basic Sniper Badge.
Just go to karkand as MEC and shoot running USMC forces.
You don't need much skill with this semi automatic sniper rifle.
You need skill with the USMC sniper rifle though.

You just need to get the kills while you have the Sniper kit. It doesn't matter how or with what weapon you use to get the kills.
...thats the lame way to get the badge
its a pity it works!
but then again... stats will tell u some1 got the necessary skills
or not

Join Karkand 32-player as MEC, wait for U.S. to capture all but the back bade and be a sniper and snipe them from across the bridge, they are mostly underneath the train cars so look there.
I don't think that getting kills with a claymore or silent pistol is lame. I do, though, think it's lame that I got a Veteran Sniper because I was dropping ordinance on the enemy as the commander. Commander kills should not count towards kits. (I've started another thread about this complaint.) Getting badges by just sitting in a vehicle and scoring artillery kills is lame. It sucks.
All good advice. Couple of additions;
- Play as squad leader. You get unwanted attention if somebody spawns on you, but worth it for calling supplies to replenish claymores and rounds.
- Relocate when spotted, unless the guys is really dizzy (he'll be out to mug you, just like you try when the tables are turned)
- Don't bang away and give your position away easily.
- M24 if playing US, M95 if Chinese, or MEC (slow bolt action outweighed by hitting power), always go for the head.
- It's worth dying for that extra kill. You can always spawn again.
- finally.... Mashtuur, Kharkland, and Ghost Town. Gritty urban combat with minimal air and armour (certainly no attack heli's or jets)
Other than that, practice, and remember what Jesus would have said, it's better to give than receive (also a prison term by all accounts)

² that Arkanon, I got my veteran sniper badge the same stupid way (although the next round I did have 17 kills). EA should look into this imo
Got mine when I least expected it....always came up short when I was trying hard....Got mine on Masuurite City...late at night...was like a 25 vs 25.....round lasted a little longer than usual...ended up with 13 kills....ironic eh...made basic and missed vet by a few...LOL....anyway, try it on Massurite..alternate from the tall roof across from hotel and the crane in the construction zone...people love to run to the hotel the cap a flag and just lie down behind the sandbags safe from all but a sniper in a opportune local!!!! Take the extra time to line up a good headshot and try not to waste shots and give away your location....even if you kill the guy, after four missed shots he has an idea where you are and will cap you when next he spawns...good luck.

I keep trying to get the Basic Sniper Combat Badge, but even in a tank all i get is another Armor Badge... WTF is up with that? lol It has happined twice now. Also how in the hell are you ppl getting one shot kills while bunny hopping and using a pistol? I'm prone with a G3A3 on single shot and I can't hit the bunny hopper.
Also I'm So Sick Of Getting Raped From The Air!!!
If you don't want to cheat and get sniper badges while in vehicles, then learn how to make the best with what you have. Well-used grenades and claymores will get the job done. If you shoot a guy and hit him, but it isn't a kill, then just pull out your silenced pistol, aim down the sights and finish him off. One pistol shot will do it after your target is hit once by an M95 or M21. It'll even get you closer to that expert pistol badge.
I finally got it, useing claymores, pistol and near the end artillary. I try to get head shots but for some reason I can't lol I'm just happy I got this far being disabled. not easy playing with my feet lol and no I'm not kidding lol

My advice for all snipers in BF2: Get a Razer Copperhead mouse, real life sniper have a fine-tuned precision instrument aswell.
I bought one taoday and it's the greatest mouse I've ever had in my gaming life.
Do you have a standard mouse and know this problem:You aim for a distant enemy's head but you always miss the right pixel, your mouse jumps over it and you have to adjust by moving instead of aiming?
Not anymore with da Copperhead, you can reach every pixel that you want and the mouse is a lot faster than the average mouse(standard=400-800dpi,Razer=2000dpi!!).
So if you really consider to be a sniper a lot,get some precision equipment,it really improves aiming.
