i swear to god the autobalance in this game is retarded. I like that it keeps teams balanced and all, but when it teamswitches me to the team i helped to defeat 5 tickets before they lose, i feel like BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF SOME DICE CODERS!

seriously, what the fuck? How do they expect people to get the war college ribbon if their own autobalance is fucking people over like this. GRRRRRRRR.

I hear ya, I got switched to the losing team on mashtuur earlier today when they had 15 tickets left and were bleeding with only 1 flag left.  I was first on the server too.

i used to get this a lot aswell, but there is a way around it.
When the autobalance feature decides it needs to move someone over to the other team it isn't random. The autobalance will first move the lone wolfs (guys not in a squad), then if there are none of these it will move squad members (not leaders, just ordinary members), and then squad leaders and then finally the commander.
Obviously it never gets to that stage but that is the way it works.
I'm not sure how it determines which of each one though, i think it may go on how many points the person has and probably the lowest will get switched to the other team.

So basically make sure if your playing on your own, that you are a squadleader or a commander and you will be safe from the teamswitch.
Lets face it, if you don't join a squad, you don't deserve to be on the winning team anyway, i think this game should force people to join a squad before they can spawn, it just makes giving orders and stuff that much easier.

At least you weren't switched TWICE - which is wot happened to me the other night when I wos helping the USMC win on Karkand before I wos switched to the MEC who I then helped to start fighting back and overturn the ticket deficit ONLY to THEN be switched AGAIN to the USMC team about a dozen tickets before they lost. And when that happened I wos like WTF?!?!

Sometimes I think the higher ranked players on a server are more likely to be switched. Has anybody noticed that? And no, I didn't want to be a squad leader cos I wos tossing C4 about and the last thing I wanted wos several squad members spawning on me only to be blasted to kingdom come just cos they were in the vicinity.

i get you.i have many times been switched.as i tend to die not many times iar, i might die after a good amount of kills then get switched.it really sux.other players have switched to get the win and the main players responsible for the win get switched.i think no team switching would help(it would also fuck up the war college ribbon whores) but we need some balance or it would be 31 v 1 every round.switching the players with the worst kill death ratio might also help.it is rare you are switched onto a winning side.

Dude, read his ENTIRE post, he points out that that couldn't happen.

But, on topic, I'm not sure the system is as predictable as described. I've been a squad leader (in a squad of one, mind you) and been switched across, which on a server with more than, what, nine? eleven? people on a side, couldn't happen. In other words, if there are some squaddies, I shouldn't have been switched, according to the above-mentioned system.

Actually, I think if the system was to be really fair, it would prevent any team switching at all when the score of the losing team reached a certain number, say 50 or 30. Because people who switch at the last minute just so that they can get a win on their stats really give me the shits. Particularly since I've seen teams pull out unlikely victories when numbers remain even and everyone's dedicated.

The commander is more or less the last man standing on the team - that's assuming we go according to his theory and one by one lone wolfs, squad members and squad leaders are switched - so if he is switched then there's nobody left. There's NO point mentioning the commander being switched - even if it is a theory - cos  it is quite OBVIOUS that it will NEVER happen! Does that not make any sense to you?

No mistake by me. Logic doesn't always make *practical* sense, which is what's happening here. Lemme quote the post in question for you:

Just because a rule never reaches it's practical extreme doesn't prevent one from stating its logical extreme.  By stating that the commander would potentially be switched last, you establish that he's more protected than any other trooper from the autobalance. And while that could never practically occur, the rule itself is more sound if it doesn't have any exceptions.


EDIT: But this is a really silly argument, I must say.

I've definitely noticed the higher ranked players getting switched more often.  But what happened to me last night was the last straw - i've had it with team-switchers.  From now on, i'm going to switch teams when the ticket count is under 10 too.  Playing on a 64 Karkand, i'm on USMC, we've taken all of their bases apart from Hotel, and they're getting raped.  Spawn raped on every spawn.  Ticket count is freefalling.  I'm a squad leader, noone in my squad.  Score is 180 vs 4, i die, i get switched, game ends.  And i still got a gold medal but i lost the fucking round i helped win!  Motherrrrrrrrrrfuckers

I have been switch when i was commader and also when in a sqaud (cant remember if i was leader or not) and had the highest points on the server.

I think its like a lot of thing with this game, that you never know what the fuck is going to happen. I have given up trying to understand it.

It's possible that the system decides to switch people based on rank rather than if they're a lone wolf, squad member, squad leader, or even the commander.

it might go something like this-

team one- 3privates, 3corporals, 2 first sergeant

team two- 3privates, 5corporals, 4 first sergants

ergo one corporal and one first sergeant from team two gets switched to team one.

well i've been switched ones, when i was the commander

but i play now on a server were it turned off, but sometimes it still switches people.

Think some servers has plugins that switch those players that have high score to the losing team. Well EA better fix this system so it FIRST switch lone wolfers not squadleaders.

Having recently started hosting a server I decided to try it without autobalance. Guess what? Sharqi Peninsla, MEC were whupping the USMC. I checked the scores, noticed US had about 5 less players then MEC. I moved over, asked for one or two others to do the same. No-one did. I then moved the ones who had just started over. They instantly team switched back to MEC. Even after I mentioned how blatantly unfair it was and gave fair warning I'd move players. Unfortunately Autobalance is the only way of keeping teams fair. Yes it has it's dubious moments but if a certain majority of people (Not trying to complain about anyone here). Would accept they can't win every game and gracefully accept being moved, instead of just switching back as soon as possible. Then having a human element in deciding teams would be possible. Sadly, though my experience, it's not.

Please note: I don't mean to offend anyone, it's midnight and I'm a bit frustrated at the blatant lack of a sense of fair play I've witnessed. So take this with a pinch of salt by all means.

Hey, I think you're bang on target. There are too many people out there who'll switch teams and abandon their teammates just to grab a win on their stats. Or, worse, they wont switch because they want a 2-1 advantage and want to continue r**ing the opposition. I've been in many battles where the enemy commander has pointed out the uneven teams, and, having checked and called for people to follow, I've switched and been one of only a couple who've done so.

I'll be honest with you, I quite like being outnumbered - sure, 2:1 is a bit much, but I've been on a winning team in that situation quite a few times. That, and being drastically outnumbered is great for your stats - lots of targets, less competition for vehicles, etc.

The problem isn't  with teams being unbalanced in terms of a discrepency in the number of players on each side.  The problem is with the way in which it moves people.  I have noticed that it does tend to move people once they have died.  However, it should move lone wolves first. 

The flip side to that is that I have changed sides in the middle of a round to get away from some idiot TKing people on his team.  I don't mind getting killed in combat, I do mind being TKd because someone has a hair up their butt.
