2 x 256mb sticks, and 1 x 1GB stick

Can someone tell me if it's worth adding my 2 x 256mb sticks from my old PC, to the 1 x 1GB stick in my new PC. Will I notice a difference or will it cause more trouble than it's worth.

Any advice would be appreciated.

depends on your system and the type of ram you have. But trying definitively can't hurt

depends on the type. If the 256 are slower than the 1gig, don't.

Old system had PC3200 DDR400 CL2 Dual Channel

New system has DDR2 Ram

Does that help?

I'm thinking DDR2 vs DDR400 might be a problem for me.

you can't put DDR ram into a DDR2 system.

yeh it physically wont fit, the slot is in a different place
