What do you do if an enemy soldier is run at you with a knife?

Use my knife if they knew i saw em 1st and ran at me with it - its the respectable thing to do, learnt from 2142

I used to pull out my knife and give him a shot, but recently it takes me two knife hits to kill an enemy. Trust me, I know it doesn't make sense but I'm working on FRAPS'ing it and posting my video later on this week.
When an enemy is laying down on the ground and I knife him, it doesn't register as a kill, even though the puff of smoke comes off. It always works on the second try though. Any rough ideas as to why I'm having this issue?

Its usually snipers that I run at with a knife. vLOL with they spam clays and nades b4 being knifed.
I will pull out my knife unless it is too dangerous for a knife fight and I need to stay alive.

hmm i had the same problem maybe if the person who you are trying to knife is moving and has a high ping you may seem to hit and possibly miss, maybe totaly wrong just a theory!{XpLiCiTxX} wrote:

yeh i get the dust thing and its crap..its just bf2 i think..i knife the guy bak, sometimes im lucky sometimes im not...
I voted for the first option, because most times i'm too surprised to pull out the knife and just shoot him down with whatever weapon im holding.

Normally in a firefight ,I'd just shoot the sucker with whatever I'm holding, otherwise (meaning it's a 1v1 situation) I'd give them a chance.
He's obviously gone soft in the head, bringing a knife to a gunfight. So usually, it depends on the kit.
Support, I'll top him with the pistol, or open up with my PKM in the hope that something hits.
Assault/medic, three short bursts rapid. (No matter how close someone is, armour, health, whatever, it ALWAYS takes 3 short bursts.)
AT/Engineer, wait for him to get a little closer, then blast him with the shotgun repeatedly. The DAO may as well be full auto with my trigger finger, and the Jackhammer IS. Occasionally, if he surprises me, he may get a HEAT rocket to the head, but that only tends to happen when he comes bouncing off something above me with the knife out.
