graphics gone wrong

this is my first post here so if it's in the wrong place I apologise in advance...

I have been playing on BF2 on Internode servers and the BF2s server, mostly infantry only, yesterday I jumped into Internode #01 and my graphics went crazy, I had yellow lines going all over the place, If i crouched down all players didn't have their names above them, and then when someone was shooting they were flashing yellow...

Now some of you are probably think hack well let me set the record straight, http://www.bf2s.com/player/59342130/ check my stats before assuming I hack...

anyway back to the problem, It makes it impossible to play when my screen is covered with either yellow lines or everything just goes yellow...

my system specs are
CPU: Intel core2 duo 2.13Ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTX
Ram: 1 Gig

any help on resolving the matter will be greatly appreciated...

Hmm, cleaned your boards lately? OC may be to far up too if it is, lastly, would update chipset drivers and GC driver.

Problems like this tend to be the graphics card overheating, check there's no dust blocking the fan on your card, then try re-installing your gfx drivers.

iPod bF2 anyway do you have a nvid 8800?? they seem to get this problem alot due to drivers (specially with Vista) usually gets darker and darker yellow through out the game.

or you got your hack the wrong way round, the troops are meant to be colour (joke)

Yeah try reinstalling or updating gfx drivers, it could even be your monitor or is it only in bf2? check and clean all connections

I think you graphics card is too hot, I am going through it right now too.

My card is a BFG 7900, it peaks at 70 degrees C, they have said it is too hot and will replace it.

What he said, overheating problem. Open up your computer casing and get rid of all the dust inside. Unplug it first and use a vacuumcleaner and a cann of compressed air.

If you still have problems with overheating you could try installing a bigger case fan in the rear.

thank you all for your replies, I think it might be overheating problem... I haven't OC'ed anything I like to keep things safe. the only background apps I have are anti virus and spyware doctor.
I'll try cleaning out my case and gfx card hopefully that will help I have the latest gfx drivers already but I will also try re-installing them

*EDIT* I usually get around 80-100 FPS but when my scren goes yellow the FPS drops to 15-25, then jumps up to around 50-55 and becomes very laggy...

Also can anyone tell me what the temp of an 8800GTX should be mine's been sitting around 50 degrees since the day I got it...

Too hot, eh? My card is currently at 73 degrees Celcius, with no overclocking and no graphical problems.

During games the temperature can rise to almost 80, and still there is no change in performance (high FPS, even with a 7600 GS).

Then again, my 7600 GS can go up to 125 degrees Celcius before it becomes dangerously hot, ie, the computer starts the "slowdown".

50 degress celcius is fine. But you have a nice system so why settle with only 1 gig of ram. And that problem is most likely gfx driver related.

Does anyone know where I could download the previous set of gfx drivers from, everything actually worked perfectly when I used the older drivers...

My old system, liquid cooling leaked onto old gfx card (heat sink caught the coolant so no card damage)
I did how ever cook my old CPU, LCD display said 100 degrees C and then shut down, so I went out and bought new parts Motherboard, CPU, Gfx card, Ram, Power supply... I spent $2000 on those parts and just didn't have enough for another gig of RAM, that will be my next purchase though...

I'm still getting the problem though, although I think it may be the server I was in cos single player and local multi work fine, online infantry only seems ok, it's just when I go into servers that have vehicles...

I have got all my settings on low for the time being to see if that helps

Well, here's the method that worked for me. (found by my buddy blinky_mon)

Assuming you have a GeForce card.

-Right mouse on your desktop
-Click on properties
-Click settings
-Click advanced
-Click troubleshoot
-Uncheck "enable write combining".

See if that works.

Thanks that seems to have done the trick, although I have only tried on infantry servers, but I actually like them better now so all is good...

Good to see you got it all working. I finished far cry in a similar condition. Cliffs were fluro green and red/orange, the ground and ocean bed was black, and light rays were solid white. It was worse than that ^. Nice gfx card, i might get one when i get some spare cash.

the meaning of "too hot" changes depending on the card (well, actually the GPU core being used). Different cores overheat at different temperatures.
