Tis a shame. Would've been cool to have some LCACs in-game.Havok wrote:
It was never coded into the game because apparently, the waves of the water would damage/destroy the vehicle inside the hovercraft. I wish they would re-add it, but I know they never will.
They could, but knowing EA, you'd have to pay $10 to use it.cowami wrote:
What they should do, though, is make a better troop lander. One that can take more than 1 hit from an AT rocket.
Or they could replace RIBs with APCs. That might work too.

Only problem is that there'd most likely be one per carrier.cowami wrote:

That's true. Of course, the only way for it to be really effective was if DICE added ships to provide shore bombardment. That would probably also mean multiple carriers, which naturally, wasn't going to happen, so...acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

yeah they did that in PR. You get 2-6 APCs in the carrier.cowami wrote:

Looks sexier in person. I see them all the time doing training exercises with the Marines.cowami wrote:

But you have to admit, it looks kinda sexy. And it sure as hell looks like it could take more than one AT rocket to it.
Well, I read somewhere that it was because of the way that BF2 is coded and that any vehicle on it would just explode, take damage or whatever (like cartillery - apart from not being "dropped onto it ).Flaming_Maniac wrote:
Why would waves of water effect it? I wasn't aware the waves in BF2 were anything more than graphics.
You know how when you drive a vehicle other than an APC into the water, it begins taking damage? The same would apply to having a tank in the LCAC. Also, the tank would probably slide off. The same thing happens to people who jump onto a RIB (not get into, but jump onto). Plus, DICE would have to code a vehicle entry button for the LCAC, since pressing E would kick you out of whatever vehicle you were trying.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

I'd rather have no waves than the waves they'd put if BF2. Having the same style of waves going all the time would be boring and easy to maneuver once you figured it out.Havok wrote:
I guess I was proven wrong on my wave theory. I was merely reposting what I read in one of these threads before that said that waves damaged the vehicles. For all we know, actually, physical wave may have been part of the beta BF2, but it was taken out like almost everything else. Possible, though unlikely.
