It just seems like too many n00bs have too high of a rank, before if you were staff seargent you were a damn good player.  It just seemed more rewarding to recieve an unlock becuase you had been playing for so long to reach the point.

Nah, It just took too fkin long..... I had to play for one year on end to get a new unlock..... now I can enjoy'em sooner....

Keeps it more fun.... besides rank isnt everything....  Would you judge me by my stats?

edit: besides looking at you GS you would have got only one or two unlocks by now if it still were the old system, pretty comfy position to bitch about unlocks too soon....

Since when does amount of time played equate to how good a player you are? Getting the unlocks should take time, yes, but not as long as it used to take. As it is now, it takes a good 300 hours at least to hit Sgt. Major.

I don't miss them at all. As Torin pointed out, the amount of time you spend playing has nothing to say on how good you are. I think it's good as it is now; if you are "better", you get more unlocks, sure, but us other mortals who play for an hour every day at least get some as well.

Cheers.

I like it better the way it is now.
It definately took to long to get promoted before they fixed the ranks. Too much work for a too low rank.
Now it's much better. The only rank which is set too high is 2nd Lt. but that's gonna be fixed by the next patch...
Besides, the rank is not everything. I've seen Gunnery Sergeants who were noobish as hell, but also  Corporals who were really skilled, as pilots for example...

Indeed I sometimes too get pwnd by PFC's or whatever.... RANK MEANS SHIT....  The player could have been playing on unranked servers, he may just be a DAMN good player who owns in every game, not just BF...

The only reason I play ranked is to gezt those unlocks, and sure its nice to see a cool pictograph in front of your name and the awards you get, but in the end....? Virtual representation of badges and ranks mean absolutely nothing outside the application for commander....

they made the unlocks too easy to get. the rank progression was fine before, it was an actual progression. now it's just stupid - 20k, 50k, 200k? what the hell kind of progression is that?

What was the system before then?

What points did you need for ranks before the patch? It's only after this patch i've really been playing the game looking at my stats, before I really didn't care, and just played. Sort of an MMORPG feel to it, heh?

I don't really mean that points are all that matter but it is the building up that counts.  now when I get an unlock I'm like eh a new gun, but before I loved getting new unlocks, and I would use em for about 2 weeks and almost no other weapon.

Yes, I would much prefer to be a First Sergent under the old rankings than what I am now.  Its just stupid how most everyone has an uber high rank now.

I would barely be a sergeant I believe. And rank, awards mean absoulutley nothing. But the old ranking system sucked ass. It required vast amounts of play and everything. It is fine the way it is.
