Just turn on your speakers (with no application running) and speak into the microphone.  If you hear your voice, then they're working fine.

If not, go to volume control and make sure that "Rear/Fron Pink In" is not muted and at full volume.

Test again.

If not, check the audio mixer/manager (for sound card) and make sure rear/front pink is a microphone device.

Test one more time, this time opening sound recorder and recording a message.

Still no response?  Try shouting.
Yes - boot mic by using advanced options for mic in volume control.

No - get a new microphone.

i dont think most of that stuff will work for me, cause my headphones have one plug for mic and phones (its pluged at the usb port if that helps)

so it is a usb headset? try searching these forums for assistance then, a lot of people have posted about having issues where bf2 wont recognize usb based headsets because they use their own sound card. the only solution i remember was to disable the computers internal sound card so the headset would show up as the only one.

Okay: Sound and Audio Devices in Control Panel.

Under Audio, set Recording to your Headset.

Try recording sound in sound recorder, if you can hear it back continue to step 2. If you cant hear it, your mic is broke, its possible the small wire got split.

2. If you can hear yourself back, check your bf2 VoIP settings, and do a microphone test, mess with stuff untill you can pass a mic test you will be good.
